Project Bi-xenon retro fit *Now with installed pics*

Ok, before I start, I've read the countless debates on the legality of retro fitted xenon headlights to a car that hasn't got washers or auto levellers.
Please don't turn this thread into one of those "debates".
These two features can be & will be fitted at a later date.

Right then...... I've started to hatch a plan!
At the moment, I have an Ultimate H7R 5000K HID kit installed which is great. I've had no problems with it but I would like to have the sharpness & look of the OEM projector lamps.

Having read a post about retro fitting OEM bi-xenon lamps, it seems it will cost at least £500 for installing the lamps alone.
Not wishing to spend that amount (well, I am from Yorkshire!), I searched the net for an alternative.
My plan is to get hold of a spare pair of halogen headlamps, remove the halogen reflector & fit bi-xenon projectors, D2S bulbs & then use my existing ballasts.
I have found a source for the projectors, bulbs & wiring adapters, so now I need to source a pair of cheap headlamps.
Anybody know how much they are from a dealer?

This is going to take a lot of work, but if I have a spare pair of headlamps then I don't have to rush the job. Plus I like put my own subtle touch on the cars I own.

Regarding the headlamps, get em cheap from David @ SEREmotoros on here.

Im not sure i understand where you mean your going to buy the halogen headlamp units and fit the bi-xenon projectors. wouldnt you just buy the bi-xenon headlamp units in the first place?

and how do you use your exisiting ballasts with the D2S bulbs? isnt the ballasts part of the bulb holder on the oem kit?

OEM bi-xenon headlamps are £170 each & they use D1S bulbs which are around £90 each, then you need ballasts which are around £100 each. The cost mounts up.

I can get a pair of bi-xenon projectors, a pair of D2S bulbs & wiring adapters (D2S bulb holders to connector to my ballasts) for £180.

There is a ignitor on the D1S bulb, but you still need a ballast to regulate the voltage.

very interested in this as i want the same sharp beam, i like you already have a set of HIDs for standard lenses.

Didnt think you could put the Projector lenses in to normal head lamps, didnt even think you could buy them seperate?

This will be the first time I've done this sort of thing, so everything will be a trial & error process. Some guys over in the USA have retro fitted some very nice pieces of kit.

The way I see it is that the reflector can be removed once the clear lens is removed, Then it's just a matter of fitting the projectors & wiring it up. The D2S adapters will plug into my ballast & the shutter for the main beam can be wired into the main beam feed. Then I just need to install & align. Easy as that!!!

The projectors are custom made & have been modified internally to produce some amazing light output.

Basically something already made up for what you want to do, you just fit it in your existing headlamp Costs £150 and comes with the projector lense, H7 bulb and ballast, all you would need is a new headlamp unit if you didn't want to cut your old one up

I hadn't noticed them.
Problem is they're still H7 based xenon bulbs & they're not bi-xenon.

They don't seem to have a shutter for dipped/main beam. Can't see how they are bi-xenon for anything other than a H4 bulb.

i would imagine that the fitting for the new lens arrangement fitted where the H7 originally goes and has a bi-xenon element inside??

you would need to strip ya lights and adapt wiring looking at the plugs on them but then with the sidelamp ring too could be more too it

need to contact em and ask i guess ?

i have a set of H4 bi's at home for the rod and it's just a single HID element in a H4 bracket with a solenoid on the back to flick a shield in and out for high and low beam

The two wires are for the solenoid that operates the internal shutter.

Yeah, the ones on hids-direct have angel eyes around the bezel of the projector.
It's not something I'm keen on to be honest.
