Hi all,

Here's my 52 reg Ibiza Mk4 1.2 S 3dr. Bought it from a dealer in Sheffield for £2,900 with just 26k on it! It's had 2 owners from new, the latest one being an elderly lady, hence the rather minging wheel trims on it as seen in the pictures below! So here she is when I got her home:

Then came the first couple of mods...

Pioneer DEH3900MP head unit...

"Sport" model gearknob and chrome surrounds (excuse the lack of carpet mats!)...

Then yesterday I gave her a proper wash (2 bucket method), using Autoglym car shampoo with a microfibre wash mitt, before drying with a microfibre drying towel. In addition, I fitted new 16" alloys, which were only £62 off eBay, that's with 2x Bridgestone Turanzas and 2x Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres with 6mm of tread! I was chuffed...

Camera didn't really like the last picture...

I've a number of mods I'd like to do, but all in good time. ;)

All comments welcome.

Chris.

Looks nice mate, alloys have improved it quite nicely. Any other plans? Facelift bumpers are nice

Btw that stereo looks familiar, I had exactly the same one when I first had my 1.2 :)

Cheers!

Yes I've quite a few mods in the pipeline. Facelift bumpers are in there but they aren't about to happen anytime soon, a couple of years down the line possibly. I'll probably make do with shoving an LCR splitter on the front for now.

I've got front mudflaps in the post and on the way, whilst I'm picking up front fog lights and grills from another member tomorrow. :D All I need then is a switch for front fogs...

I take it you ended up with a similar sort of gap underneath your stereo after fitting it? I'm going to have another stab at sorting that out soon.

Ah shame buddy, though i must admit waiting then fitting later really does make you appreciate it more. I had my bumper 2 years before fitting it :D not on purpose though, just had a problem getting a perfect match on the paint

That sounds awesome. BTW you shouldn't need a switch for the front fogs, my 1.2s got one already, even though I don't have them. The switch is on the light knob, it just pulls out

Surprisingly I can't remember a gap myself, random. A few others say they've got one but I never had it when I had mine. Upgraded to a DVD/iPod one eventually, really suits the dash, especially with the red lights

One thing is for sure, if I get new bumpers at some stage they'll be fitted soon after. I couldn't stand a 2 year wait.

About the fog switch, I believe there is a second stage pull on the switch. My current one pulls out and puts the rear fog on, but to work properly I'd need the correct switch with a second pull to put both front and rears on.

I've seen your dash install, it really does look the mutt's nuts! I'm not that fussed on ICE though, I'm going to change the front and rear speakers but won't be amping or anything. The rest of the mods will be interior and exterior parts. :p

Haha yeah, I was very excited to get it painted first but after a while I kind of gave up. Kind of glad I waited though, I appreciate the bumper more now (I got the FL bumper as soon as I had the car)

Ah ok, I didn't know that buddy

Cheers mate, it does look the business. Although I really buy it just for looks, soley because the MK4 dash looks a bit tacky and I do think it really takes the attention away from it. I recently changed my front speakers only and I kind of regret it even though my new speakers are ace, they don't sound quite right without a sub/amp.

Keep up the good work though, can't wait to see how the car turns out in the next few months

That's an ace idea, I'll try that. I'll put pictures up of how it looks. Cheers Adam!

Good colour choice... ;)

Hehe, I thought so too! It's a bit of a marmite colour I think, some hate it some love it.

I've actually got quite a few mods ready to do, just haven't fitted them yet. So...

UPDATE

- L plates removed, passed my test first time 3 weeks ago today.
- Head unit has been swapped the other way round as mentioned by Adam Kelly, looks MUCH better now, thanks buddy! Need to sort out the wiring though, I've been done something wrong and now have no permanent live!
- Front mudflaps fitted.
- New anthracite coloured front grill with chrome surround ready to go on.
- Cupra bushes ready to be fitted.
- Front fog lights with grilles, I'm awaiting a headlight switch with front fog function to make it all work!
- Standard genuine Ibiza car mats in the post.

More stuff coming shortly.

Another update - will get pictures in the next few days, I apologise in advance the car will be dirty, bloody hose pipe ban in the North West, it's just a really bad joke but I digress...

Mods done:

- Anthracite front grill with chrome surround
- SEAT chrome tax disc holder
- chrome air vent surrounds
- red Cupra air vent switches
- Cupra consul bushes (rear front wishbone bushes), big improvement, well worth it.

I've also now got a headlight switch with fog function, all I need now is a loom with the correct connector for genuine fog lights. Any suggestions where to get one or how to make one?

Also serviced it with the following (all genuine parts):

- Air filter (not pictured)
- oil filter
- fuel filter - bugger to change, why can't they just put it under the bonnet and not near the rear wheel!
- Longlife III fully synthetic oil
- pollen filter
- spark plugs

More mods coming soon.

Agreed! Wearing petrol on your face as aftershave stings a little!

Found mine easier to get in than it was to get out, wonderful place to put the feeder lines... one on top of the other so that you can't reach the clip on one on the top!

Took the words right out of my mouth, the new filter took seconds to put in, the old one took about 15mins to remove!

Mother wasn't happy about the small patch of petrol on the drive (I collected most of it up), especially not with another small patch of coolant also on the drive (from when I changed the coolant temp sensor earlier on).

My god I need a Polo wiper!

Also bought a rear cup holder and Cupra red stitched handbrake cover, so I'll fit them at some point.
