sounds like the garage owe you and engine or a full rebuild mate. Common fault if you dont put a collet on correctly it will snap the end of the valve off dropping it into the bore to smash up your piston, bore, and head massive mistake and expensive! bad times mate

do you think the spark plug has split up and fallen into it? or does it look like the spark plug has been damaged by somthing?

When he examined the plug, the eletrode seem fine, just the tip is missing, but for some darn reason he when he tried removing it,it wasnt budging as if was welded on head, but it snapped off and screw bit got left behind....

stock bore is 81mm, so you can go up a little before getting to the max a std headgasket can accomodate (82.5mm)

sounds like dropped valve.. and possible cause is springs not sat square in the counterbore in the head.. Usually if like this the valve will break at the bottom collet groove and drop into the cylinder and nuke stuff.
head may be smashed, piston also, and some scoring of bores is likely..

head off job to confirm carnage and plan rebuild steps req'd

Oh cheers for that bill... is possible just to rebuild cycinlnder one? with new piston, rings and rebore(if required)...
Or the other cyclinders need to be rebuilt to?
the car was knocking slightly does that mean the crank is scored, just put new shells on it or it would need a regrind?

I've thought about this and if he did the valve stem seals with head on he surely would of had to fill the cylinder up with compressed air through the spark plug holes to remove the springs? Has he cross threaded the spark plug hole and that's why the thread has been left behind? Defo still sounds like a broken valve tho

yeh he did that way to prevent valves from dropping when he removed th srings...dont know on the spark plug cross threading:(.... Yeh thats what i think but till he dont get sprk plugs out he cant5 check, but he then be stripping the head of then!

sound like s bad result mate, whats next? whos paying?

The valves are white i think because its ash build up due to burning alittle bit of oil nothing to worry about
