Please help! Rear speaker cables???

Hi guys - would appreciate help greatly!

Am looking at putting in some 6X9s into the rear of my 2008 Ibiza. Got the acoustic parcel shelf, 6X9s, all I need to do is sort the wiring.

Under the rear passenger bench I can see a cable going off to the left, and one off to the right, near where the rear speakers are.

Both cables say OP 2914, and have FLR31Y11Y stamped on them (wire manufacture I think).

So, is it OK for me to cut both these cables and divert to the new rear speakers?
Worried that I'm going to cut the rear lights or something!!!

There's no way I would be cutting any wires that are part of the loom. Just feed the wire that came with the speakers from the dash to the rear, hiding it under the trim panels by the door sill. Very easy to do.

Thanks for your reply :)

Where exactly will the wire go then? I have a three door mk4 and I thought it was quite hard to take the rear trim off (or is it just an easy part down at the bottom then? And where does it go once its at the front of the car, do I navigate it round the glove box or something?

Yep, you got it. Feed the wire from the front passenger footwell behind th glovebox to the rear of the radio. Then start tucking the remaining wire under the plastic sill by the bottom of the door. Lift up the rear seats and pull them forward so you can guide the more easily to the boot.

I have a wiring 'plug' by the rear shelf to make it easier to remove the rear parcel shelf.

Thanks mate, very sound advice. Parcel shelf finally been delivered, wont be able to try fitting it till next week though. But should be able to do it from what you have put.

Where did you get your plug from? I had a similar socket on my old Peugeot and it was very helpful. Best I can come up with so far is something like banana plugs.

Problem I had Smithy was that I couldnt see an easy way to get to the speakers. 3-door rear trim looks a pain to get off.

All sorted, fairly satisfied with the sound but the 6x9s dont sound as nice as I remember on my 306. Probably better speakers on that. Anyway fellas, thanks for your help :)
