i know this topic may have been covered many times before and i have done a search, but the majority is talking about FRs. I had a fault with the coolant sensor on the leon before and had it replaced since i thought it might have been the cause of my bad mpg. At a 16 mile run without giving it the heavy foot i'm only averaging 42mpg, is that correct? What is everyone else returning? In the past i would be able to average 48 to 52mpg no bother. What can cause this? thanks

I have a 140tdi Sport and on my daily 50 mile round trip comute i see between 42 and 45mpg depending on how im driving...

If i drive like miss daisy everywhere i can stretch to 51mpg but thats about it... The older my car getts and the more miles i put on i notice that the mpg isnt as good as it first was. :(

not sure why though!!

air and fuel filter was changed 5000 miles ago, oil is changed every 4000 - 6000 miles. i also use millers additive in hope that it would improve the mpg, but it didn't. Is it hard to remove the egr valve btw, i think that might be at fault?

I dont get very good mpg in my 140 dsg, but then i do live in Milton Keynes where its all stop start and dashes between roundabouts.

On a motorway run, sitting at 60 i can eek about 50 out of it. The car was serviced last month and i have ntoiced an improvement around MK, not done a run yet but am expecting 52 ish if sitting at 60. Will find out Saturday

Just a thought - have u checked ur tyre pressures and wheel allgnment? This cud have an effect on mpg.. Not a massive one but it all adds up

I get around 40mpg out of my 2008 2.0tdi DSG on a mix of runs. Even on a long run I've never had more than 45mpg though, and I never get less than 37mpg even tootling around. Doesn't seem to matter how I drive it!

tyre pressure is sitting at around 30psi and the wheels had an alignment check not that long ago. A mate of mine who owns a 330d e46 gets a 55mpg return for a 20 mile run.

Really, if its mapped and all on motorway then I can maybe possibly belive that, my 320cd
stuggles to get 52mpg on the motorway at 60mph. The first 5 minutes of my journey to work are around town and stop start traffic and I struggle to get 30mpg in that time and can build it up to 45-47mpg to work (about 18miles)

The 330d ares suppose to only get 42mpg

With my last Leon, a 56 plate pd140, I got about 45mpg almost constantly from when I bought it with about 10k on the clock. It improved a bit about 40k to 47/48mpg until I changed it.

I've now got a 60 plate pd140 that gets about 42mpg almost constantly, I guess the drop may be to do with it having a DPF.

We both do roughly the same runs to work and back yet he gets more than 200 miles per £30 tank, yet I struggle to get 180miles on a £30 tank of diesel.

I know the feeling, a mate of mine has an e46 320d and he gets around 660 from a tank where as my Leon will on average only get 475... no matter how i drive really. Im sure the fuel gage plus computer dont give accurate readings.
Went to fill up the other day with computer saying 0 and the tank needle below the red and it only took 50 litres, and i was under the impression these were fitted with a 55 litre tank...

The e46 has a 63 litre tank so thats 8 more litres = almost 2 gallons which if at 50mpg would do about 100 miles more to a tank. Personally I only put 30 quid in at a time as a full tank is fairly heavy!

Still can't believe 55mpg from 330d but 660 from a 320d is about right but not that imressive if you work it out

The pd 140 in the leon doesn't have a DPF.

My 60 plate 140 with 4k on the clock has been running 44mpg over the winter, which I think is not to bad.

Get around 39 on a daily basis but I deliver sandwiches so I am forever stop /starting and obviously have very little in the way of clear runs. On a 24 mile trip to Sheff from Donny I usually get at least 40 while sticking within 10mph of motorway limit and I can get nearly 50mph coming back at similar speeds. (theres more downhill bits obviously).

On a cold start the other night I did a 10 mile round trip with very few stops at lights, it was all 40 50 mph speed limits which I pretty much stuck to and got 55mph.

Mines 4 years old now and nearly 40K miles and it seems pretty much same as when I got it 3 years ago with 10K miles!

Did a round trip to kent yesterday from Milton Keynes (M1, M25, A2) On the way got it up to 55.8 and that sitting at 60mph, then 50mph through the ave speed sections. On way home, sat between 65/70mph went up to 52mpg.

I'm pretty happy with that tbh, for a 2.0 pd140 wth 48k on the clock.

This is 1 month after a full service (Fuel Filter, air, oil etc and a can of forte before hand)

Did the same trip a few months back before the servce and could only manage 51 max sitting at 60mph.

Took a run down to Thirsk from the Glasgow area this morning and back up and the mfd readout was 47mpg and that was sitting 80 to 90mph on M74, M6 and over the A66 onto A1, so mostly Mway and dual carraige way. My Leon is remapped.

Thats good figures - is it a 2.0? PD or CR...?
