TDI 110 is the best of the distribution pump engines, with good treatment they go on forever, and can be remapped to about 150 I think?

TDI 130 and 150 are PD engines, needing special oil. The 150 has a bigger turbo and will remap to the highest figures. The 150 comes in the Leon Cupra TDI or Toledo TDI 150 Sport cars, with the Sport suspension package which is much better than the Comfort suspension on the 130. FMIC and nice wheels on the 150 too.

110 will be the cheapest by far.
Less complex engine, more economical and low insurance.
But depends what you need. 130 and 150 are more tunable for a cheaper price and faster.

My golf was the 110 AHF non PD engine and my leon the 130 ASZ PD, would never go back if can help it.

the 110 cause its far simpler and will run on forever no need to worry about choco cams. more fun to modify. and more room for modifying and the parts are cheaper too. i drove the 150 and the 110 and by far preferred the 110. didnt like the white dials etc

Why did Seat ever put white dials in the Leon? Its the sort of thing a chavvy 17 year old has in their 1.0L corsa.

I dont know where you get the idea there is 'more room for modifying' on the 110, as a straight generic stage 1 remap on the 150 will give more power than a 110 can ever get, let alone if you put a bigger or hybrid turbo in. And any non performance mods can be carried out on all leons the same.

Iv got an fr150, not driven any of the others but in standard form its brilliant. Cheap to run yet still fun when foot is down. I cant wait for a remap to make the grin even bigger. Just make sure the correct oil is used and also drive sendibly untill car is warm to help prevent cam failure. But if you worried about can failure, take it to a vag specialst or a cam specialist, take the rocker cover off and check cams for wear, if they have then think about replacing, if they havent then service with correct oil. Im not even that bothered about cam failure now!

150 all the way. Although i have one so a bit biased :D

Mines now running 191bhp and 324 ft/ibs and it alot more fun to drive than when it was standard :D Im not worried about my cam at all. If it breaks, it breaks, not much you can do about it so no point in worrying :D Oh and my 150 has white dials and i like them. Lights up red so it matches all the FR colour scheme :D and 62mpg on motorway im very happy with and thats not even driving steady, foot down every now and then :D

Im so glad i didnt go for the 130 i was going to get :D

Oh and the insurance on the 150 leon is the same as my pug 306 hdi 90bhp (well 125bhp ;)) :D

I had the 110 and the 150. It's a tough comparison to make, to be perfectly honest, because the whole package on the 150 is better - power out of the box, handling, looks, spec.

If you can afford to buy, and insure, the 150, then do that. You will get used to the 110 power, you will wish the handling was slightly better, the looks slightly meaner. The same will happen on the 150 - but you will already be further down the line.

From what iv read its just a new cam and follower needed, most replace whole head with uprated cams and followers.

The cam failure is typically that the exhaust cam lobe and lifter wear through their hardening. If caught early enough it's just a new cam and followers, but if left for too long the bearings take some damage and in bad cases so does the head.

I've had a TDI 110 and TDI 150 Toledo. The 150 is better, mainly because the Sports suspension package is so much better. Lower, with much better anti-roll bars front and back. The engine delivers an impressive amount of urge when needed too.
