Looking mint mate :) Lovin the new look on the rear lights, top work all round there :)

Thanks mate.

I may go to inters but my spare time and money need to go into my car this year. Having said that I'd of been tempted to come down tomorrow if we hadn't of had plans. Hope you have a good time.

Ok mate. Well hopefully I'll catch up with you at one of the shows, would be good. And cheers, had a great day today, just what the doctor ordered to get the season back under way!

AmD RR Day

So I went down to the rr day at AmD today and it was a great turnout as usual and really well run as always by the AmD crew. Good to see everyone down there, some lovely cars and not just SEAT's.

The car made 278bhp and 303lb/ft torque and I was a bit disappointed tbh. I hadn't done a proper run with the car since I fitted the two shims in my 008 dv and these turned out to be the problem. I got home tonight and took them out and the car is pulling so much harder and breathing better, took it for a good run and was pleased when I finished up tonight. Always next time to have another crack, maybe at the Comrades of VAG RR Day on the 19th May :)

Some pics and vids from today

What was causing the problems then mate? Te shims or the cold side relocation?

The shims mate. I took them out when I got back from AmD earlier and then went for a blast and it was so much faster than the drive to AmD this morning. Night and day.

Bit annoying but one of those things and I'm happy it's sorted now. I will stick with just the yellow spring for my setup now.

So how was one of the shims causing it to run slow? I thought that a shim would just help the clamping load on the DV and prevent it from leaking?

What a day ay mate. Still great fun :)

A good laugh in the end as always mate. Plenty of banter :)

I don't know exactly mate. I had two shims in there not one. All I know now is it runs much better now.

Couple of the guys at AmD said the shims have mixed results on cars they see there. And lets face it, they deal with loads of these DV's every week so on a recommendation I removed the shims and hey presto..

That's strange i changed mine back to the forge after the Bosch one started to play up after a couple of days and put a home made shim in it and it feels better but I havnt got my service kit yet so ill play around with it when that comes I think. What figures where you hoping for?

As they said today though, shims have varied results on people's cars which is why they give you three in a kit so you can mix and match to suit your car and the boost it runs. I was just hoping for a bit more at the time tbh, but it doesn't really matter now anyway :)

The shims will not effect power output. Result sounds bang on the money for the spec and it seems the rollers are reading spot on. Good work by AMD I say :) beautiful car this!

Cheers Nick. But at the end of the day I don't really care much anymore, at the time I wanted a bit more but it's feeling good again now so I'm happy. On the road it puts a massive smile on my face which is what matters tbh :D

You need a nice V3 manifold now and water methanol :) get that slag flaming

I'll pass on those fanifolds for now :) It flames when it's hot, have you not seen the bumper above the exhaust tip? It's singed through from Brands tracktime last year lol. :)

Wants rods before them.. Or at same time I suppose

Buy that 997 Turbo and I'll have your engine as I know it's been done with the best bits :)

True or he could be a real man and let a rod peak out the block lol

Lol you fail wot box boy :p

Maybe one day I can join you in this elite club, lol.

v3 are no better then stock mani...and will jsut produce heat! get a V2 and weld it up :)

Happy enough with stock for now mate. Not sure I want more power from this car anyway, being front wheel drive.

Will just keep it as it is and get more power when I change car next.

Wht u ran to sounds about right to me looks like any one tht had ran on amd dyno before was down on power today from privous result.

Shims wont afect power output wht so ever and deffnetly not loss u power.

Wht u got to do now is any future modsnor mappin compare the result after tht with wht u got today as looks like the old highamd figers aint happing no more
