As last a bit of good news

As you say it is lot of car for the Money at todays price comparison £1888 les than a golf Match even with the Extra

I am limited on length in the garage so this SC just fits The Audi A3 was to long and £3000 more

Just want to add a little more good news...

Early days I know, but after 1500 miles I haven't heard any squeaks and rattles from our new ST FR (shame about the delivery dent, but that's another story). Maybe the 2015MY cars have some minor changes to rectify some of the commonly occuring noise problems.

Hopefully I won't be reporting back anything different in this thread in the months to come! :)

All this has made me extremely worried about my New Leon SC on order One of the main reasons I picked this car is that I thought it would have a similar VAG build Quality to my 3 year old Golf.
Is it all models that rattle ? and is it a Build date problem ?

Surly if its such a big issue Seat would be more pro active

Just wondering what my options would be if I cancelled the car as Only have £550 deposit car due December
It a pity I have read all this as the car is such a nice looking Model
I couldn't agree more - I've got a Leon FR 5dr on order, and am starting to worry that I've made a mistake now. I don't suppose I'll see any of my £250 deposit again if I cancel now, but that might be a hit worth taking. Then again, I've read plenty of owners reviews on other sites that don't mention rattles at all. Hmm, think its make your mind up time...

This thread just got me too worried in the end, so I cancelled my order for the Leon and ordered another Audi instead. Thankfully the Seat dealer was understanding enough to refund my deposit back, so guess I was pretty lucky there.

Well, my very brief foray into these forums was good while it lasted! All the best with your cars guys.

To all who think Golfs Mk7 are rattle free, google "vw golf mk7 rattle" and you will get a lot of rattle related topics. Basicly they are writing about the same disapointment about the built quality. They just don't wine about how sorry they are they didn't buy a Leon:rofl:

Rattles appear to have cured themselves, both door and dash rattles have been absent for a week, only a very slight buzzing from drivers door but it's hardly noticeable, I suppose now I've said something they will come back with vengeance, but at the moment I actually have a silent car

I think your nuts fella, my Leon is rattle free. A friend of mine bought an Audi prior to me getting my Leon and he now regrets it. He says the difference in quality is very little but the difference in price was astonishing, (his Audi is similar spec to my Leon) he might have badge snobbery but I have the fatter wallet.
All the best.

Well I did not cancel and kept my order as we all know its a lot of car for the Money so if there is a little rattle I will just think of the £2000 saving and they will go away slightly

Car should be here in December

Good choice fella, as I said mines rattle free. With all my options my mates Audi was over £3500 more expensive.
Leon is a better looking car, better balanced oh and way cooler according to my wife, and who's gonna argue with the boss:whistle:

Mine is now nearly 4 months old, 2000 miles (only used for short trips so far) and no rattles, well pleased as I give it plenty stick once the oil hits 80.:D:D:D

Right - I finally snapped, and pulled off the A-pillar trim !

The TWO dealers who said they had packed it with foam were lying - there's one bit of white foam fitted to the cover that looks like its been there since the factory... after driving with it off - the rattle is STILL there... Im guessing that there is a wire or pipe fed down the actual A-pillar (inside the metal)... my guess is a washer pipe to the rear screen maybe ?

Thoughts please ?

I have found stange random "pop" noises coming in the middle console (I think).
I managed to narrow it down a little bit, seems that the "pop" appears when climate control is set to "auto". Maybe air valves are opening & closing and this is the reason for these sounds? Anyone else experiencing this?

I guess it will depend how comparable the part ex values would be when your friend changes his Audi for something else in the future. I suspect his initial outlay will result in a much better future value.

For me personally, I feel the car is a let down. One saving grace for my Leon is the brilliant mpg I get from the 1.6 tdi engine. Unfortunately this does not make up for the fact that it sounds like a 'Skeleton wanki*g in a biscuit tin' when being driven. 2/10 for build quality. Never again.

Which side trim did you pull off ?, the washer bottle is on the LHS of the engine bay so if you pulled off the RHS trim that's not it as I can't imagine that being the routing. Also not sure if there are any curtain airbage in that vicinity without going out to look at my car.

Are there any clips that you could remove to peek in the hole that it sits in ?

I dont want to get too involved in this as every car forum has a rattle thread which will continue until the cars are no longer being made new and peoples expectations are lowered, but do any of you get door rattles that stop when you push against it here...

The A-pillar cover has NO airbag... the cover has 4 (?) spring clips that pop into the steel pillar... other than the little slots that accommodate the spring clips, I can see no access :-(

Whatever is rattling is definitely behind this steel... might have to get the grinder out !

Only yesterday mankind managed to land a spacecraft on a comet 510 million km away travelling at 40,000mph. Yet the human race is still incapable of producing a rattle free car. Crazy.

The dealer carried out work to both front door cards on my car. It's got rid of the rattling that was there before but new (different sounding) rattles have now replaced them!

Had my car in at Linwood Seat/Skoda for the rattle issue last week, they applied the re-call fix to the car and since then i've not had a rattle and i've been driving over some crap roads in Ayrshire.

I got my 2.0 184hp in December last year, and start to get angry. I have rattle noise in the driver's door and passenger, and also the pillar that looks like a creak but this one happens when I turn the car slowly climbing a small hill. [:@]

The creak is probably your door seals. I spray lithium grease into a cloth and rub it along the top of the door and it disappears for a few weeks.

After a few washes or rainy weeks it returns but it's easily solved in a few minutes.

I have a 2014 seat Leon 1.6 tdi 5F. there is a rattle coming from behind the dash by the sound of it at low speed + low revs ( traffic driving). has anyone else experienced this?. there is also a ruff bearing sound that sounds as though it is coming from behind the steering colum but the weird thing is it only happens at 55-60mph in 5th gear + accelerating? any thoughts :/ ? ( I know it's not a wheel bearing)

I had a vibration on the left hand side of the central console where the two pieces of plastic overlap. I put 2mm laminate underlay folded in two. You may have the same issue. Easy to fix, easy to remove if isn't that.
