Nice guide. Got my chrome cap now, just need to key and the car!

Have also got myself a silicone key cover. Find these brilliant. Haven't found one yet with any text on but the red line matches the FR trim stitching.

Like ebay item no. 131467427198

Hmm looks good, and just about my skill level to install it! Might try taking the chrome cap off my current car's key (2005 VW Bora) before I sell it, and save a few quid!

That will be the old key type,... New type (VW and SEAT at least) are angled where the chrome end bit is or i would have done the same with my 2008 Golf.

Done the same as kevster184. Case of eBay and chrome cap of eBay also (genuine VW dealer). Tip use the screw supplied with the cap as it is designed to tap a thread into the metal cap and works a treat. 4 min job and looks the business. Key now feels reassuringly heavy.

Got my new FR 184 yesterday and did the key mod as soon as it arrived. I got the chrome cap from VW via eBay (cant remember dealer, but came really quick).

Must say, key now looks fantastic. Hard to believe they don't put it on all keys, as its gives it instant premium look and feel.

Did the key mod myself today, it looks great and IMO should be the standard style for the FR! It's a shame it's not, but a very easy mod to do yourself.

Hey all :),

Just got my Leon Mk3 this weekend and really enjoying driving it. Such a nice car!

I've just ordered the same silcon case as kevster184 as it looks neat!

Thanks for all the info about the chrome key cap mod - I managed to get two for £5.50 from ebay and modded one of my keys and the one from the mrs's Golf SE, which also came with a plastic cap. It's an easy but worthwhile change.

Up next, heated washer fan jets...

Just did the chrome mod on my key, got the bit from the below seller, they have more and its only £4.99 with free P&P!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400989931204

The difference it makes to the key is noticeable. So noticeable in fact that the missus commented on it and I hadn't even told her i was doing it!

Hello

Recently I bought the same chrome items from the next Ebay seller

http://www.ebay.com/itm/252232835374?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

How can verify the items are Genuine parts instead chinese???

Thanks
