Hi, not been on for a while but i thought i would share this info,
just received a letter from SEAT UK needing to do a software mod
to my car [2008 leon k1] this is what the letter said.
SEAT has detected that in vehicles manufactured within a specific
time frame it is possible for the ABS/ESP control unit to suffer a
thermomechanical overload.therefore,cause an interruption in
earth connection.
I am a bit worried about this as my car has been remapped
does anyone know if this new sofware mod would affect this.

This letter is why I came on here. When it says software it did make me wonder about my remap.

A thermomechanical overload sounds like a hardware issue though as I thought the abs/esp control unit was linked but separate. I might ring them tomorrow and ask.

Spoke to seat. Said they 99% sure it wouldn't overwrite the map but couldn't guarantee it. Advised me to ask garage when I got it mapped as it wasn't seat software. My garage told me that if they just update the abs/esp software then it should be ok but if they update the software as a whole, which apparently they usually do, that it would cost £70.00 to get map put back on

Nearest garage is 20 miles away and I bet they won't do it on a weekend. Can you let me know what they say about the map.

they would have to fix my abs pressure sensor first to do mine.. Wonder if they would do that for me foc.. lol
I bought the parts a year ago, just cant be arsed to totally strip out the abs module to fit it.. esp off is perfect for me.. hateful system anyhow

Have you had it done mate and did it wipe the map? I am getting conflicting views from different dealerships.

Is this recall just a software update or will they need to go under the bonnet?

No I believe there is a problem with earthing, they want the abs module out up to 2hrs work?!
That's what I was told by a friend who has a 09 plate golf gtd ,same recall.

I'm not bothering with mine.. miles are low and it's a weekend car

I rang the garage Monday, they said they have to go under to keep the battery charged. Seems excessive for a software update. Had to reschedule mine as the bonnet cable decided to snap Monday night. Surprisingly they didn't try and sell me the work.

Sorry for taken so long to respond, getting no notifications for posts.
"Anyway" the answer to your question no i have not had it done,
the more time i think about it the more i think why bother,
my car is not broken so why fix it.
Plus i am scared something might go wrong with update

Mine went in yesterday for the recall.

The brakes had stopped working properly. Also abs lights coming on for minor wheel spin.

Still waiting for it back.

Anyone else actually got this recall done?

Thanks
