e-handle trouble/feature

I used to reverse into tight spaces, by slightly opening the door and looking out and checingk the distance from the kerb etc.

when I tried the same the bl**dy e-handbrake activates and the car stops and beeps ...

what is this feature and how to disable it ?

just another one of those safety features you may or may not want

Do you have access to VCDS or OBD11 to see if you can code it off.

Not sure if there is a way to disable it with coding as 'theoldboy' mentioned, but it certainly can't be deactivated in the car menu. I personally find it a great feature as it means I never actually have to use the button, it activates the handbrake as soon as I open the door, and of course disengages it when I'm ready to drive off!

I find the e brake and hold feature very useful. Could not set the passenger mirror dip to assist with this?

tried that, but only the left side dips, not sure why ...

The mirror dip is only designed to help you park car next to a curb on the passenger side.
Have you thought about a reversing camera.
