Hi all
I have a new Ateca fr

I’ve noticed that when you change the ambient colour lighting in the doors it leaves the footwell and wireless phone charger area white

Is it possible to code this in so you can make them red t match what I have the doors set on ?

Those are LED lights least in the Xcellence so they only do white. It's the same light assembly from memory as the one in the boot - I had the passenger footwell one missing at delivery and I did try to upgrade the boot one only to find it was LED so had it out and read the serial number. That's when it became apparent it's multi use.

Apart from a toffee paper I haven't got any other suggestions. The foot well ones some times get covered by carpet.

Other non Xcellence models least in the first wave of production were not LED in some of those bulbs. But since you have the multicolour on the side panels it's a fair guess they are all white LED.

A simple but permanent way of changing the colour is to visit a model shop and purchase Tamiya Clear Red, Blue, Green. yellow or orange. This is a water-based paint so just needs to be brushed over the lens to tint it, the more layers you apply ( letting it dry between coats) the richer the colour get.

Suspect it's a railway modeller's trick on signal colours ;).

Page 175 of the Ateca electrical systems manual shows fours wires going into the door ambient LED which looks a bit like the boot one. A small unit. Presume the four wires are ground and one for each primary colour. Don't know how much mileage there is playing about with that unit. Probably get one primary colour to work or have or a rewiring session.

The foot well light was quite expensive about £15 from memory. Suspect the ambient light is
expensive. I'd assumed some tube alignment but no just a similar small unit similar to the boot one which is also used in the foot well from my previous research. Uses fibre optics to give the strip look.

Part number

VAG 575 947 355 B

About the same price as the standard white one.

Basically the side ambients are put in to make it pretty, the foot well and console base to be practical to pick up things dropped or put down.

No toffee foils or modelling paint required but engineering. Part number from here

Number 1.

There are C and B types not sure of the difference C (C for colour, B standard?). Here's a C, got the four wires as per the Ateca workshop manual.

Just need a box to control it....
