Reviews are good so far. Even read that it's better at handling it's power than the CUPRA (but I believe it was being compared to the 300)

It's official 0-62 is 5.6-7 secs as compared with the CUPRA at 6 secs. Even seen a video of reported 5.5 secs for the TRC.

The GPF has given it a very similar tone to the CUPRA as well.

Styling wise add the sides skirts and the oem front lip and CUPRA is much better to look at.

Great car and about time vw upped the power of there fwd gti , it's expensive but will hold it's value better than the Leon, I love my Sub 8 but if I could afford one I might look at it.

I'm not sure if it's just me, but the wheel hop in my MY19 is far less pronounced than in the previous Black Edition 290.
I've found the wheel hop to be worse in this 290 than in my 280, but the torque has been increased and I've gone from manual to DSG.

It's a lot more tempting to plant your foot when you don't have to worry about the clutch. Still have to work on my driving style a little.

I can't remember which site it was but in their review they posed the question "What's the point in the Cupra, why not just have this Golf?"

Sometimes I really wonder if they consider the price whatsoever...
One of the crappy weekly lazy journo weekly photoshop exclusive mags. I’d rather read the Sun newspaper.

Only mag I read (if at all these days with the internet) would be Evo.

People should just be banging in the insert from new, rather than waiting till the standard is even more woolley and then sticking the insert in and then complaining when the whole thing fails.

The roads aren't great around here so I'm just going to be lighter on the gas.
Not sure I want to sacrifice my ride quality anymore at this stage.

Problem is, if you shear an engine mount due to fitting any of these inserts and cause further damage then you can kiss goodbye to your warranty and say hello to VWFS making you pay for the rest of your contract up front (on lease)...which they can do as you've modified the car, or SEAT UK walking away leaving you with a hefty bill. It's easier just to modulate your throttle inputs.

I saw one on Facebook I think it was, looks like the guy is hoping Seat don't see it but I don't think that is very likely...

But yeah, completely sheared through his engine mount, presumably he kept his foot down whilst it was hopping.

sorry to hijack this thread, but since we already on wheel hopping ... don't get it very often but when I do it's violent

what is it actually? why is hopping? I had other FW cars and the wheel was just spinning, but no hopping, why Seat/VW is affected?

It should not be any different as the 280 and 290 have exactly the same amount of Torque but it's probably due to the fact it was easier to control with the manual.

I agree with the manual being easier to control, but I thought my previous 280 had 350nm and the 290 has 380nm?
