You know what, I’m not sure.

Anything but red haha

I have spotted a nice 280 15 plate one for 15k, going to look at it tomorrow!

You should also look at OBD11 as there are a number of features you can turn on that wont be enabled by Seat.

If you don't like Tech then Carista does some of the stuff and requires no understanding of car setup.

Check what make the tyres are, Michelin PS4S Is the best currently,
Ensure all the Lights (front and rear) work well as they are very expensive to replace.
Rear Brake lights have been know to have cracks and water get in them.
If you have the white edging on the front seats check for cracking
Make sure the car has been serviced well and that the Front Diff (Haldex Dif) and DSG Gearbox have had oil changes.

Have you checked with your insurance company.

Thanks for all that, willbear that info in mind when i go and look.

Regarding insurance, no, not yet. That being said i am due for renewal soon anyhow so can shop around. I guess it varies from insurer to insurer but for a stage 1 remap what sort of premium have people been getting?

I think if you look for a company that offers a modified car policy, opposed to a standard car policy with modifications, you'll find it's cheaper. Adrian Flux are usually a good bet. You get a discount for saying you're a member of this forum :)
I was paying around £340-500 a various points for my last car. I'm at £550 now for my current.

I expect it to not be too bad,

Mid thirties, professional, max no claims etc.

This is my first adventure in to the worls of modifications, looking forward to eventually sharing what i have done

Shop around. For stage one most mainstream insurance companies will quote but get you with admin fee for every time you make a change so check that out first.

Good to hear! What colour and spec is it?
Hopefully we'll be able to see it at one of the upcoming meets :)

Not specifically,

Recommend to avoid if they haven’t been done? It’s a dsg if that helps

If it's from a SEAT dealership you can try to request that those services are carried out before you pick up the car

Right ok, it’s not from a Seat dealership but the 3 services it has had done were completed by Seat. I don’t know whether they will have serviced the diff or gearbox at any of those.

If I were to take it to seat directly any idea how much those services would cost?

Is it a no go without the services?

I wouldn't say it's a no go without the services. If you could swindle them as part of the deal, it would save a bit of money. DSG service would cost between £150-300 depending on where you, and the diff service would be between £150-200 depending where you go. Some people have sourced the parts themselves and done it for a lot less. If you have a good relationship with your local garage, you could get it at cost price parts and reduced labour.

Thanks for that, fingers crossed they have been done then.

That being said the car is a stunner and I think I will go for it either way. If needs be I will source the parts and get the servicing done post purchase.

Thanks again all of you for this brilliant info

I have two comments on this purchase.

1/ The cupra280 is a great motor you will just love it and it keeps you smiling

2/ Oil Changes are very important make sure you follow the recommended servicing intervalse.
Check out Paddy's signature there is a link to the Seat Workshop manuals that tell you what and when.

I was very surprised to hear that the cupra still runs on the standard service interval of 2yrs/20k.

That seems a bit long to me on what is a performance car. I may well bring it back to yearly or every 15k, something like that.

Back to the car, it was tight as a drum. I was surprised how sporty it felt even in comfort mode, switched it in to cupra mode and it just felt like a hooligan!! And that dsg bark! Intoxicating!
