Not today, but over the past week I drove to the Netherlands and back, so it was a good chance to give the car a good run and make sure everything is OK. Lots of things I thought were wrong with the suspension just turned out to be the British roads. That said, I was getting some 'wallowing' at times, and I also felt like the suspension was bottoming out a few times too, so will be looking at new shocks sometime, I'm guessing?

There's been some noise from the nearside wheel and I think that the bearings are on their way out. Are they replaced in pairs?

For some reason as well, the offside headlight is absolutely full of condensation. The nearside one was replaced after a crash years ago, so I'm presuming it's showing its age a bit, and as it needs restoration it's a good opportunity to remove it and get it looking good again. Any tips?

All in all though, I'm pleasantly surprised. It's difficult when you're starting to do a lot of your own work, but can't diagnose absolutely everything, because every knock and whistle could be so many different things, but the car hit 160k miles on the way back, and there's nothing about it where I'm thinking that the car is on its way out, and I was averaging at least 55mpg on both journeys, so thumbs up on that one!

On a warm dry afternoon
Turn on full beam. Open back of housing and leave for an hr to get nice and hot. Should remove the moisture.
Some just get condensation now and then. I had both lights changed for new VW originals ( while they still had them )
One of mine fogged up within 2 months.

Picked car up from fabricator.. if you look in the back ground it's lovely blue sky's..... the trip home (30mins) it was just a down poor the whole way. So had to come to work with it . Dry the car and prep it for spraying the primer to help protect the car. Is any one on here a sprayer for a living

Used it to go work today. Sounds like I’ve got a light knock from the engine when it’s cold and just switched on, seems to go after 20 seconds.. I feel an engine rebuild will be on the cards at some point

Due to a bolt being snapped in the subframe when I first got the car and no logbook it has given me time to do a few little bits.

So far:
Breather hoses replaced as they were perished
Rocker gasket done
New cat and centre section
New wiper mechanism as had seized
New dogbone mount and gearbox mount
Polybush subframe bushes
Audi TT wishbone bushes with Polybush front bushes
Replacement subframe
Clutch pedal plastic retainer as original had worn through
Forge 007p dv
Got remote locking working

Still a lot to do though, got replacement dials as the lcd on mine isn't working, got cupra r rear beam bushes to go on as well as a few other bits. At least now I can drive it though.
