Hey,

I have a 2011 Seat Ibiza 1.4 SE Copa 3DR and it doesn't have rear speakers. I was wondering if anyone knows if it is a plug and play and the loom is already there inside the speaker grille?

Asking because i rather not try and get the panel off and snap the clips.

Snap! So do I. I'm in the middle of doing this. there aer no spaeaker cables or mounts, just 4 x holes where the OEM mount would be. I have changed the head unit already but can't remember if there are cables for the rear speakers present at the quadlock connector. I hope not as that is where I want the cables to go directly rather than trying to find where under the dash the prewired cable ends. I'm doctoring a POLO front door (I think) mount to see if there is enough clearance between mount & trim panel. Should be fine as long as the co-axial tweeter doesn't protrude beyond the face of the main speaker.

Just checked yesterday. Onlt the 4 connetions for the front speakers are populated in the quadlock. The speaker (brown) plug can be removed and the blue locking bar pushed out so I can wire my new rear speaker cables in directly as per factory. Wonder if just introducing the connected load makes the fader work on the stock HU? Not important as I've got a non-stock HU now, just wondering.

If the original HU did have the ability to drive extra speakers, then you might have to change its coding via VCDS to achieve the correct control.

Hiya
I'm currently wanting to install rear speakers into my ibiza 6j 3dr and was wondering how i would wire them in. I have just purchased a new Sony HU aswell.
Is it just a case of wiring the rear speaker to the wiring of the front speakers or would need i run new wires straight from the HU to the new rear speakers?

As you are replacing the original HU, I'd guess that it will support 4 or more speaker locations, so just create new wiring and take that wiring all the way back to the HU area in the car. If you only connected these new speakers either in series are parallel with the existing speakers on each side, then you would never get better control of the sound balance - ie in fade front<>rear.

I have located the rear speaker wires on the HU wire harness but im unsure of where to splice the wire as the wires are connected to the HU then run to another connector which then runs to the factory connector. At which point should i cut the wire and attatch the new speaker wires.

Hummmm, if that car has never had rear speakers fitted and its HU does not support rear speakers, then why have you found some wires for rear speakers anywhere on that original HU?

Its no longer the original HU. Its the new one that has been installed.

Also another question on the rear panels i dont see anywhere to mount the speakers. Are they also mounted on the interior door panel like the front one or on the door itself. If so how?

I can't say as my daughter sold her late 2009 Ibiza, so hopefully someone who has added in rear speakers to an SC will chip in here.

I'm guessing, that to do this upgrade as per the factory fitment, you would need to buy new side trim panels as they would have holes for the speaker, I'd expect that the speakers are mounted on the body frame behind these trim panels.

If you have bought a "same as factory" speaker cable for supporting these extra 2 rear speakers then I'd expect that their will be a couple of "free" wires for each speaker and you would connect the new speakers to them.

I manage to sort out the speaker wires by connecting them to the wiring harness it was actually quite easy.
Also the rear panels i have do have grills suggesting speakers can be inputted but i see no holes that will fit an adapter only 4 small holes on the frame which don't seem to be in the right places.

In an earlier posting to this thread/topic, AIR said that he had found the 4 small holes that SEAT fit the speaker mounting frame to, maybe try to find an online VW Group parts listing and search on it for all the parts you need to carry out this mod, or check to see if any ICE retro fitters supply a rear speaker mounting kit for this car, I'd think that some company will, if not you have the SEAT parts bin to fall back on.

My 3dr 6J has factory fitted rear speakers. I was looking at upgrading them. Weird none of your cars have them.
