It will, however with your car being a 2007 it may suffer from battery drain issues. There are loads of threads on here regarding fitting the rns 510 and issues you may get,do a quick search and should find a ton of info.

Thanks Brimfull for that. Just a quick question the unit I have is version 3970 what firmware would I need to sort out these issues?

It's not firmware that's the issue with battery drain, it's the part number of your canbus module. Late 2007 and onwards had modules that can cope with rns510, early modules dont switch the unit off fully when you remove the key from the ignition, which leads to the unit draining your battery.

The only ways to find out what module you have is to either fit the rns510 and then leave the car unused for 48 hours and see it if starts or remove your canbus module and check the part number on it.

There is a thread in here which lists all the rns510 friendly canbus modules by part number.

I have 2006 leon and had the battery issue so I had to upgrade the module from a 2010 model to solve the issue.

Not as easy as I thought this would be. Alot to learn.
It why most people dont bother with the rns510 and fit, an android headunit instead.

I went with a rns510 as i wanted to keep the stock look.

I've had 2 of these android headunits before so now have decided to bit the bullet and fit the proper thing. I have just scanned my car with VCDS and it shows that the canbus unit is not compatible with RNS510. Therefore this means that i'll have to replace this in order to stop the battery drain problem. Can anyone tell me which units would be correct and would I have to reprogram it to my car and if so how would I do this?

Does anyone know where the canbus module is located because I have to change it to fit RNS510 to avoid battery drain?

All up and running now except can't get aftermarket rear reverse camera to work. This reverse camera worked on my android head unit but I can't seem to get it working with the VW RNS510. Any ideas as to how I can get it working?

Hi,

I have RNS 510 (without sd card) in Seat Altea XL.
How to update maps V17 CD_8555 to my radio?
I have V13 maps (CD_8530).

Delivery part no: 5P0035680A
HW: 0996 (firmware)

Is it possible?

Tnx!
