yes right through! the third from the left has melted the plastic case and the fuse parts have welded themselves to the fuse box. the car is under warranty so ill give them a call next week
mines ok- I do run two batteries though so have changed a few bits and pieces. I bet it would of needed replacing though if not for this as every other common mk3 ibiza fault has happened on mine. (having said that the last 2 years have been trouble free....doh just cursed myself)
GRRR this friggin post has put bad luck on me, just a week after voting No i havent had a new fues box, my fuse box decides to melt on me, NOOOOOOOOOOO 40 squid later from the stealers and im up and running again
Bill on the way to the person who started this poll as i fully blame YOU
my aircon doesnt seem to work that well, so did some checking and found this, my car is also overheating very quickly, i have a strong feeling this is to blame as my fuse box doesnt have a lid :confuse: There is no signs of melting, nut am very concerend about overheating.
had same problem but replaced fuse with 30amp and still no fans working when i purchased the car it had a 25 amp fuse in there which was well an truly melted and melted the plastic i will clean it up an get back to everyone but my ac is fine an only overheats in traffic after 5mins or so.
if anyone finds out the problem please post as i have had a vag com computer test an this showed no faults in any system.....
I did the same with mine last August. It's been working fine but checked it yesterday and the plastic on the fuse was melted and pretty messed up! So I whipped it out (needed pliers) and stuck a new fuse in.
By the way, if this fuse goes then your radiator fan doesn't kick in, your air con doesnt work and the water pump which runs for 10 mins after you turn the engine off stops working too so it's pretty important
Incedentally when I rang SEAT about this they noted they had not heard of this before. Either they are being economical with the truth or their fault recording database etc is just plain not good.
Now on the plus side they did say take it to a dealer and some kind of goodwill gesture would be forth coming and SEAT would inspect it and write a 'fire' report. Hopefully this will claw its way back to seat technical.
I seem to have fixed this problem... with a maxi fuse... Its still a blade type, only its HUGE! Can post pics if anyone wants them. Its not just a straight swap, some wiring is needed.
