Just been trawling the web for limited info on mods possible for a V5 engine (we're a dying breed you know!) - and came across this, which I thought was interesting:

http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/101604/ShowPost.aspx

Both pics are of 10 valve engines. I gather the open air filter route is not a good idea as it has a tendency to f things up, but the turbo conversion on the left hand drive Bora was interesting. Anyone heard of this being done on a UK car?

Link to the Bora guys turbo mods here http://www.zatzy.com/vbgarage.php?&do=view&id=11685 - unfortunately it's in Swedish but you can click on his pics to enlarge them even though some of them are a bit dark.

Not very technically minded myself. Any idea how much that lot would have cost?

Supercharging is a more common option on the VR6. Quite a few of the Corrado crew have supercharged VR6's (which is essentially a V5 with an extra cylinder). Reliability is debatable though.

I guess a turbo mod would involve lowering the engines compression ratio to avoid fireworks and similar reliability issues ?
