Trying to get the standard steering wheel off and having a tough time of it.

I've tried Torx sockets in the two holes behind the wheel but nothing seems to bite, any advice?

Cheers

hope the batteries off too!

then a BIG socket to undo the nut.

But you're not taking it off to straighten the steering I hope?

Yeah left the battery disconnected for a while..

Stuck a torx bit in and wriggled it around and it popped off, safe! :D

All sorted now, off to Donnington, whhoopee!

I'm very interested in this thread.

I've just bought a steering wheel off a wrecked Ibiza Cupra R off ebay. Basically the leather on my steering wheel is falling off and SEAT wanted £380 for a replacement!!!
Now, I do need to use the existing airbag but just replace the steering wheel with the new one. Is it really this simple to do or am I missing something?

Cheers,
Damo

This is how simple it is, yes. Just make sure you disconnect your battery, and try starting your car too make sure there is no current running through, otherwise you'll have a bit of a suprise!!!

LOL, don't fancy that going off in my face.

I now have something to do to the car at the weekend! :funk:

Many thanks.

I hope you got a nice 300mm wheel for it, I've been trying to hunt one down for a while!

The nut is 24mm on my MK2, I reckon it'd be the same on the MK3.
