Burning Oil

I had my 20,000 mile service in June 2006 and am due for my 30,000 mile at the end of this month. However while i was doing the monthly check on fluids etc i found i had no oil making a mark on the dip stick... I had to top her up with at least 2 to 3 litres. I have heard VW engines are prone to having oil in them one minute and none the next with no signs of a leak etc, but it don't half shock you when it happens. Especially when the car is only a year old - Leon FR 150.

Do re maps alter how much oil you use? Or driving a higher sppeds over long distance?

Has this happened to anyone else?

i had this with my FR Tdi after about 7k miles - i needed to put in another 1 litre to fill it again. It was ok from 10k service to about 15k but then i needed to top up with about 0.5 litres. On 20k now but havent checked recently.

i wonder how diesels got the name oil burners.... lol
