I ain't telling you thief!
I've been working at Rugby last week or so in our test facility there. So we finish our runs and I leave for home at about 8:30pm.

I jump onto the M1 northbound, by the time I get there from work the oil is nice and warm so can I wizz up to speed. So I'm cruising along lane 3 just overtaking a car in lane 2 and I'm a little above the limit.
As I pass the car and I'm about to move into lane 2 I see this police car trundling along in lane 1. So I leisurely come down to 70mph.

As soon as I'm past the copper he pulls into lane 2 and get his lights on... so I pull over and to cut a long story short, the lovely lady police officer (she was rather ding dong!) points out to me that my offside tail light is blown.

So I wonder back to the police car and after 10 mins chit chat, the lady says '...a Cupra hey, those are nippy off the line'. Me answers with a straight face... 'they're ok... it's unsafe to use them to their full extent on public highways...'.

So after I get my Vehicle Defect Note I jump back in the car and what do I do...well show the lovely lady what the car's can do... I boot it in 1st upto 4,500rpm and then in second all the way to the red line...70 mph. Then I hold all the way home... I chuckled to myself.

Funny bit, she asks me for my driver's licence and I handed over my switch card, I was thinking of what I had to buy at Tescos. So then I get to Tescos and I hand the cashier my drivers licence...honest to god.

Anyway, these bobbies were nice enough, had a laugh with them in the car whilst they were checking vehicle details etc. I'm sure they could of made some comment about my approach speed - albeit I wasn't doing anyting silly...

Some of them are very anal...but I guess not all of them.

proves if you talk to em normal and act normal you'll be on your way fine

funny though you got stopped for a lamp out, round here i've seen a whole front end missing inc a windscreen drive past a copper and he didnt bat an eyelid - then tonite on way home sat at lights just pulling off on green and 2 vans tear across from other side on a red - look across and on the line a copper is sat there

Yes she was nice...pretty face. Nice eyes. :p

We were talking and joking throughout between the three parties and as you rightly say, if you act sensible and portray yourself properly you have a bigger chance of being treated that way.

Having said that, a copper once pulled me on the motorway and cautioned my for doing 80,1 mph average. I thought that was rather gay... but he properly wound me up when he gave me the speech that if I get disqualified I'd have to re-test (a little OTT since I had and still have no convictions) and then he said an L-plate would: 'not look cool on your GTi mate...'

I could of gave him a whole lot of polite verbal for that comment (one of the things I'm good at in my job is communication - I can abuse someone very well without swearing or loosing tone!). I swallowed my pride and walked off with the caution, it's just not worth it.

As you say though chap, there's all sorts out there.

i just had a unmarked astra following me back from my girlfriends , didnt know it was a copper but i knew a white astra was following so i went a really long way homw where he turned a differnet way. I got onto my road and parked. whilst i was just letting the car idle for a minute or two the astra drove past, obviously done a check and was checking i was going home.

Ipulled out behined him and follwed him for bit!!!!!! Obvious who it was but they had no reason to pull me Other than my german plates and slightly red looking indicators lol

:p

I was sat in the back of the cop car tonight looking at my plates thinking... 'good job I didn't get those German plates from dubmeister...'. :)

Think I might get some, I do like the look of them. Beside they look almost legal. I fancy a surround with Seat Munchen Nord on it too...

Most Officers are fine reasonable people, pass the "attitude test" and you will get treated with respect........fail and don't expect no ice cream sundae!

Just like the guy on the traffic cops program last at the cruise on Isle of Wight, he's a top guy, and was letting the one guy blow flames out of his exhaust (not really my thing)
But he said that the people are no trouble and they are there, just purely to enjoy and talk about each others cars.

Rather than drive like a knobs.

I tend to find that you more often than not get the same attitude back as you give to them.
Although, i've got a short fuse, so a sarky comment, and i become defensive, and blunt.

Damn right, I hate them with a ****ing passion. Id happily cut the throat of a copper without blinking. Total and utter scum, theyre on the same level as peadofiles in my eyes.
