Lowering confusion

Ive just put some 18s on my 2002 Leon cupra. It looks a little high so want to lower it about 40mm with just springs so that it doesnt look like a 4x4. A local car shop said that 40mm lower leon springs will only make about 10mm difference cos the cupra is lower than a normal Leon. Is this true?

Do I order 40mm lowering springs for a Cupra or order 60mm as its already lower than a normal Leon?

Sorry for the confusion. Also, whats the best budgetity make and wheres the best place to get them from?

Many thanks
Paul

40mm will do a decent drop, standard cupra springs are still as high as a boat mate. being a 2002 car regardless of mileage your shocks will not be in tip top condition though.

I AM IN FRONT OF YOU
would go for coilovers or a a full set springs and shocks m8
i thought long and hard about this i was going to get just springs
then i thought my car is 5 years old the shocks will be no good
so i bit the bullet and went for coilovers
and fitted them myself.

as said by all mate a full set a good coilovers is what you need and if you get the right ones you can adjust the ride and the hight to what ever you want, i did the same to my 2001 leon and now i just play about with it setting it up to how i want it:clap:

plus just gettting the spring will cause more damage to the OE shock that you will need new dampers in 6 months time anyway so why not:think:

He's right, I put just springs on mne a few months back and the shocks are dying now!

And if you do go for shocks/springs, I put Eibach 35mm springs on mine with 18's and it sits very nicely, not OTT lowered, just a nice small, even gap around the wheels to the arches.
