Guy came today from insurance company to inspect the car. And wrote it off

total for new engine + labour and possibility of even more undoscovered damage ie turbo, ecu, feuling system ..... was over £5000  and not worth doing.

Waiting now to agree a price for the car. Thinks insurance will offer £4000 to begin with. i acnt get a cupra for <£5000 so i'l not be taking that

Its a hassle mate but look at it this way - Cash to spend on a new motor! At least your not having to pay for the fix yourself! Will your insurance premium be taking a big hit?

But coant afford to pay for new engine so its a must. Never claimed for anything in my life before.

Will pay off my loan i got for car. take out a new loan and get a new car

I know how you feel on sunday afternoon the sea was coming over the wall and there must of been a puddle half a foot deep and I noticed last moment. Got through it and the car seems ok but now when I start her up from cold it makes a horrible noise. Might need a new starter motor.

Well its all over now for the ibiza well for me any how. Insurance company paid out and after a bit of haggling we settled on a pay out of £5250  a sweeter end to a really shitty week. i was really surprised by the 1st offer of 4800 and was expecting it to be a lot lower. insurance valuer was very friendly and helpful and seemed genuinely interested in getting me the best price he could. Car has been taken away by salvage company now and was a sad site to se it go.

but its time to move on up. gonne get a bigger car so looking at Leon Cupra R's or audi s3's now.

was a joy to own the ibiza and it was a really good car to me. also sold on my Revo ecu, coilovers, wheels, blue flame exhaust and have cd changer to sell.

so should set me up ok for a new car.

Good stuff mate, glad to here things have got a bit sweeter now. A guy I work with has bought a W reg S3 and it's a very nice motor (Pains me to say this as he's a d1ck). Keep us updated with what you get. Will you be sticking to VAG group cars?

Cheers

yeh will probably stick to vag group cars. dont really like anything else just now. dont like the running cost of an evo or scooby. BMW i just dont like the image of. so will likely be audi or seat again.

my mate also jsut bought a y plate S3 it gorgeous. really like them and they look so good inside. but then again i like the LCR

also had a look at civic type R's which i also like. but i do like the torque of a turbo car.

i'l keep you's posted

U still can get your car fixed mate, my dads mondeo 2001 176k mileage had a shunt up the backside and some company called who was not in any connection to do with his insurance company made the people pay out for his car which they had written it off with over 5.6k worth of damage and the car was only valued at 2.3k. If you want il speak to him tonight and get the name of the company who done it!
