MOTs can be a total scam, my other halfs peogeot failed on "excessive" wear on front discs, I went up there and asked him what the measurement of the discs was. He claimed that he measured them by eye!! Man he must have x-ray vision to be able to be able to measure parts of a mm in his head!

I asked him what the recommended thickness was for this car, he said he had no idea. I told him to pass its MOT, he wrote out the ticket!! Arsehole.

Totally feel for you, I'd expect more from a main dealer. Take it as far as you can.

To be fare to the test station looking at the brakes is all they can do as they can not remove any parts in the test.

Indeed the vOSA has a special note fo rthe ELise due to its defuser that must be removed prior to the test so it can be jacked up to check the suspension play

I'm sorry but what's the point of making a judgement on disc on a 1.1 car, if I remember correctly the max was 7mm when new and the recommended change point was 5.5mm, thats just too small to even judge by eye (have they every heard of a micrometer?). There was no lip on the disc at all. (the car only had 25,000 miles on it and had only just gone through its first set of tyres from new) It was just a scam to get to change them.

Nope, they will use a digital vernia, that reads them to .01 of a mm

Okay got a result

The service manager from Cheshunt Seat has given me a full refund on the origional MOT.

He called me this afternoon, had a good conversation with him and I'm satisfied with the result.

Just goes to show, polite letters work!!!

If they could get one in without removing the wheel they may do but they do ot have too, eye is enough same as in a service, then don't remove wheels just look though gaps inwheels to check disks and pads.
