Dipstick - Crap?

Does anyone else think the design of the oil dipstick on the leon is crap?

I went to check oil th other day and because of the colour of the metal which its made from its really difficult to see the markers and check the level!!!

Or perhaps this is uncommon not sure, but my dipstick is black in colour, surely it should be a light colour to make reading it easy!

Any tips?

i agree, on the altea, the dipstick is black in colour and its hard to see the oil level

defo agree with this, i topped up the other day and had to dip 3/4 times and kinda take an average to work out how much oil was in there.

Any ideas if painting it white for instance would have a nevagtive effect on the engine?

im not sure that would be a good thing, the oil does get hot, and paint may flake off the plastic
