denied cupra test drive

:-o @ Ben ctr, i was the complete opposite, shortly before i wrote my ibiza off me and my gf both went to the local mazda dealership as i was interested in buying the MPS3 and she was interested in the RX8. We were basically told, that we will need to have our finances checked before they would let us out in either of the cars, bearing in mind that my gf is a privats school teacher earning upwards of 30k a year, and i earn around the 20k bracket. Me or the gf were far from impressed with these :w4nk: and when we went to another dealer, they told us to ring back in the week, and we could have an extended test drive in bothe cars (1.5hrs each) so we called back, and they said they would call us back to arrange it, and guess what, they ****ing never. so F*CK mazda :birdy:

However, we went to the local seat dealer, and they said come along anythime, and we will let you have a test drive in the new cupra any time............ still havent been over though :(

When I went to take an FR out for a drive the rep was pretty accommodating, no complaints there! However - he had to sit in the back for 'insurance purposes'

Would have been good to give it a good thrashing though couldn't really do it with him there..

Sorry to hear that mate:blink: I have to say that one of the main reasons that i bought my SEAT was the excellent service that i got from the dealership. (Robinsons in Lowestoft). Ok i am just 40 but they let me have take out my current car unaccompanied before i bought it. And when i took it back for its first service the manager came out said hi Rob fancy taking out the new FR and threw me the keys - so i did:)

Called me last week and offered me a day long test drive in the Cupra, ended up taking it out for 4 hours and loved it. Even though the garage is 105 miles from me was worth the trip - and i'll probably be getting one if i can just decide which colour

Try another dealer that offers good customer service, makes a huge difference!

Interesting thread.... however my situation was total opposite. I never even test drove the Seat Leon. But somehow I knew it was the car for me. Plus I needed a car as soon as possible. I got my car in 2 weeks from first phone call to Seat dealer. This was also at the time when there was a big shortage in the UK at the time.

Not bad for my first car tbh :funk:

When I bought my Saxo VTS many years ago they phoned in the insurance company while I was there to make sure I could be insured!

Got my FR from Sidlow in Reigate - they were very easy in terms of getting a drive and for the second test drive they let me have the car all afternoon. I'm 31 but look quite young I guess so I was pleased with the way the treated me.

my local seat dealer have a new leon cupra
I went in there to ask about alloy refurbishment as I know they have a man come in once a week

I did have a look at it and they said did I fancy a go out in it as they know me down there and I said no thanks as the temptation would be too much, that and I needed to take SWMBO to the hospital for some physio therapy

AHH the joys of being 36 and able to afford and ensure one if I wanted to

edit

the problem would be getting my middle aged spread into the very nice looking front seats

It entirley depends upon what you look like when you turn up, and what you turn up in. I must say I had a really bad experiance at Ford (Bristol Street in Newcastle-U-L) once when I was looking at buying a new Puma a few years ago, I was asked to leave. I'm in IT and probably earned more than the sales manager but I look really young for my age. You would think this wouldn't still happen, but I went to Renault in stoke to look for a new Clio for the wife a few weeks ago, the guy on the door saw me drive up in my FR, he was more than polite, the sales manager didn't and blanked us completley.
Just take you business elsewhere and let everyone you know know how s*ite these particular dealers are.

Good thread very intresting, in the last few years i have been lucky enough to have my fair share of new cars. I run my own glazing buisness and i am totaly hands on always in my scruffy work clothes covered in shite, late thirtys, the wrong side of 16 stone, shaven head and take my word for it(or so i am told)i look as rough as they come. 1st car audi tt treated like a peice of dogdirt no respect no test drive, but the look on their face was pure shock when i ordered one there and then, it still makes me laugh now(listers audi).Next rs focus, ford dealer not to bad but after service was trash(brooklyn ford). Next evo 7 dealers was ok,but service dept was 1st class the best i have ever known (xtreme dudley).Droitwich seat, Woody, what a first class bloke every time i walk in takes time out for a chat, always and i mean always returns calls, i went in friday to order some parts for my fr as its due in soon, i had just finished a job and was well dirty, still shook my hand, then without me even asking gave me the keys to the cupra(bare in mind i have a fr on order so not even thinking of a cupra) all i can say is they are the best dealers i have ever delt with a1 in every dept (so far:D )

Don't know if you read my post on page 1 mate. But I had a similar problem with them too.. I'd tell them to ram it and use Scunthorpe, loads better service I find...
