I did a quick search and noticed that this was a bit of a tough question!! but has anyone figured out what the colour code of the LCR 18" wheels are?

I have a slight scuff and need to sort it out.

or has anyone used some other touch up paint and got a decent match?

thanks in advance,

Dan

AFAIK no paint code has been found any half decent rim refurbisher should be able to colour match it though.

Which ones? The Cupra R wheels had a couple of colour options.

You sure? people have refurb'd them in different colours but OEM was one colour only AFAIK

100% sure. I'm not sure if there is any definite pattern to it, but the lighter colours seem to have the darker wheels and the darker colours have the lighter wheels.

For instance, the wheels on a black LCR are silver. Plain, light silver.

The wheels on an Ovni LCR are darker grey.

I've seen red LCR's with both colours on though. My Ovni LCR has the darker grey wheels.

sorted it.

I took some Seat Arctic Silver and mixed it with a little black magic touch up stick to mix the perfect match.

I sanded the scratch with some 1200 paper, primed, painted and sealed.

It was only a 2cm long scratch but I would have always noticed it.

I would recommend you mixing the paint if you have the same problem. It took me a few minutes to find the offending peice of rim when it came to adding the laquer - the match was that good!!

I've found colour differences in the wheels too. My 03 black has darker wheels than a friends 05 plate red.

That blows my theory of light wheels on dark cars out of the window then

Whenever I get the chance to go to a SC.net meet, if there is another LCR there with the different shade of wheels, I'll see if I can get a side-by-side comparison picture.

LOL I was going to mention that your theory was blown :cartman:

Cue pictures of wheels in different shades and plenty of arguments about whether they are OEM or refurbed wheels ;) .

IMO anyone wanting to repair the wheels needs a professional to make a good job of it, any half decent alloy repairer will be able to colour match anyway

You're right, any decent repairer will get the colour match spot on.

My two passenger side wheels need attention (previous owner couldn't park....) so I think I'll go for a colour change when the funds allow. Would be nice to have it done for the summer, but don't think that will happen.

when you look at the repair cost Vs new alloys suddenly you have a new dilemma......Mmmmm new wheels

(sold my slightly kerbed OEM alloys and tyres with not much tread for £450 ish IIRC to off set the cost of the new wheels)

Maybe it doesn;t quite stretch to Sportec's but some new/nearly new BBS CH's ;) (sure you could source some from dealers or ebay etc)

The trouble is, I don't like light silver wheels on yellow cars, I think it looks washed out. I love the CH's, they suit the Leon perfectly, but I just don't want a light silver wheel.

The Sportecs are stunning wheels and quite subtle too, not sure how much they are though?

After I fitted my RS6 replica's I went to Awesome Gti for the SCN rolling road day and was soooo close to getting rid of them and getting some Konig E-racers that I fell in love with.....reasonable price too

That was the general idea ;)

You'll probably need 10mm spacers......sure Awesome could advise on offsets etc.

10mm spacers and 8inch rims still fit without sticking out

IIRC they were circ £750ish for a set of 4x18inch....that was a while back
