Decided to take my Cupra to a Seat Dealer in Chippenham yesterday to finally get to the bottom of my Engine fault lights on the dash

they charged me 164 pounds for 1.5hrs labour and advised me of the problems my car has but didnt provide any fault codes.

they told me the O/S/F speed sensor faulty? i take it thats not the ABS sensor ( otherwise they'd call it the ABS sensor right? ) £173 fitted

Secondary air pump has gone causing a lean mixture £530 fitted.......the car has been running pretty hot when i stop and last week it over heated when fricking Kwik fit left the engine running while they did the tracking ( coz the needed the PS on! twits! )

Next fault is with the aircon....they told me it needed an upgrade!? what does that mean? ....it only costs £61.80 which is fine but what is that?

the one fault that is most annoying is when sat in traffic a funny like wurring noise comes from the engine, not all the time but on occasion then it stops, sounds like a fan belt but the tone of the noise does not change when i rev the engine or does it change at any different speeds weather thats 20 , 30 or 50? very odd?....anyone know what that might be?

Also id like to know the best place to get all these parts i need to sort out the problems, i know i wont be going back there in a hurry to have them fitted at that extortionate rate thats for sure!

any help would be great

many thanks in advance peeps!

ABS sensor is £30 from GSF

Secondary air pump won't cause overheating - it's on for 30 seconds at cold start only - do they mean the water pump? - that's about £350 to get done including the timing belt

I had a similar discussion with SEAT over the secondry air system. They said as I was using a forced induction kit and the fact that the secondry air pipe was not being used it was causing the car to be lean.

They said that I didnt know what I was doing by putting an induction kit on and said the only way to stop it was to connect up the old standard air box.

I didnt take their advice and now my car couldnt be running any better

I had the same discussion yesterday with SEAT they said I have the problem of the Bank 1 fault because of the dynatwist which is bringing up the fault saying its lean!

But I think its the exhaust my secondary sensor is turned off revo stage 2

Yep, exactly what they said to me, Im guessing its cos they want you to buy their parts not aftermarket.

They said I would never sort my boosting problems out unless i ditched the dynatwist. I took it to a VAG Specialist after that which told me if that were true it would be the 1st case of it thats ever happened, he didnt believe it for one second.

Needless to say I sorted the boost out and kept the dynatwist. I just found SEAT really unhelpful when I had problems, They were great help until I payed the money and after that they wernt intrested.

So how did you remedy it Dan Cupra R?

Replaced the perished hoses and took my car back to p-torque to get tweaked and job done.

Was something so simple in the end but I nearly believed SEAT that it was the filter buggering it up.

Was basically a combination of perished hoses and the original mapping not meeting the fuel demands causing a huge drop in power.

At one point the car was only producing 151bhp at the fly with a map! WTF

Anyway its all good now and I couldnt be happier, was really frustraiting at the time tho

Whirring noise could be the bearings in your cooling fans going, ive found dealers to be the most overpriced and unhelpful people going, unless you go in there with your cheque book in hand they dont want to know.
I couldnt be happier with vagtech, im glad MK seat were so rubbish as it pushed me to find a vag specialist

Yeah been told one of the front fans the bearings are going ( the one for the air con supposidly ) but last night it was making the noise and none of the fans were running and the air con was switched off......THE ENGINE WAS ALSO SWITCHED OFF!!!, the noise comes from the left hand side of the engine if you stand at the front of the car, i cant see anything moving and its intermittant so i couldnt re-produce the fault at the garage which was a pain! when you touch the front of the car there is a mental vibration??

As for the secondary air pump, i takeit its there for a reson so will have to be replaced eventually but the car is running fine and is totally standard also.

doing my nut in!, suppose ill get the sensor and get that sorted, cant be that hard a job to sort out!?

cheers for all the response even if some sorta deviated off the topic! :) lol

When my cooling fan bearings went it would rattle the front end like mad, sometimes for ages after the engine was off and on occasion setting the alarm off! Got really annoying having to stand next to the car until it stopped before you could leave it.

Yeah it does sound like that, thing is it went to Seat the other day and i would have thought that would have shown on the VAG reading? do you think they may have got the secondary air pump and the secondary water pump mixed up?.....ill check the vibes but where you discribed it thats where the noise is coming from.

anyone know the answer to my question above? :D

You dont need the secondary air injection system. Alot cheaper to remove it and declutter the engine bay than pay silly amounts just for the unit and then to fit it.
