Is it from the seat base or the seat fittings on the floor?

If its the floor, you can replace the rubber guides for cheap (they're common to go) but if its the base, it might need a new wire or even worse, a reweld.

Pull the seat about with your hand and see where its creaking from.

My drivers seat frame was creaking and sqeeking for ages, and the other day the frame just snapped.

Any idea how to remove the whole seat in order to do a re-weld?

The seat itself is held in by an allen bolt and a hex bolt. Pull your seat towards the steering wheel and you'll see it in the centre of the seat base. Simply undo this, remove the trim from each side of the rails and then use the handle to slide the seat all the way back. Pull the seat up, remove an airbag cable if it has one and remove it from the car :)

mine also done this. its all to with the pimp handle, if the seat is sitting high mine wont creak, but adjusted all the way down, it sounds like a bed in a brothal.

My old Polo did this when I first brought it. Took it back to the dealers and they found the seat base had broken, causing it to creak.
