Is not a place I would recommend taking your car. Mis-diagnosing problems, obsurdly expensive, poor customer service, and unhelpful tips. Now have started to take me Toledo to Newbury Seat in Newbury (obviously!!) and am much much happier with the service. Helpful over the phone when I had a problem and much better at communicating with me about my car while it is in their care. So to anyone who lives in the Reading/Newbury area I would recommend Newbury Seat over Emmer Green Garage anyday.

We not impressed with them either..Tho had heard bad stuff about them previously..Rang them 3/4weeks ago about the Cupra and still no phone call...servicing prices are really expensive compared to other Seat garages too.. We take our back to Cheltenham for servicing and Cheltenham have got our ordered for the Cupra (they've got 7 to sell whereas Reading only have 4!!!)..

I bought a lcr from this garage and after the first service with them, I would never go back. Poor service and the mileage on my car was 32 miles ontop of what was previous to what it went in as! Had some warranty work done and the same happened again.

I finally went to Camberely service centre where i find no fault and very helpful, my car is due in ther this friday for the 50,000 service, will let you know how i get on.

Newbury and Emmer Green are I believe run by the same franchise.
Have avoided Emmer Green like the plague after seeing feedback on here, and will not be going to Newbury again if I can help it. Had my last warranty work done by them, 4 attempts to fix a seatbelt was an absolute joke and they didnt seem to be too interested in getting it resolved until I was hopping mad. If you can travel a bit get to Camberley, had two services done by them and can honestly say best service I've ever had on any of my cars, cannot recommend them enough.
Still undecided if I'll go with them for my next service though, now its out of warranty may go independent specialist route to save £££s.

Ha ha im guna completly dissagree with all of you on this one.

Emmer green have always been really good with me and really help sort alot of problems. after frequent return visits with various problems im now getting a discount on parts.

Newbury i hate after they screewed me out of 500 quid on buying a car from them. i live in thatcham wich is 5 mins from newbury and will always do the 45min trip to emmergren instead!

Tony, would agree with you on this. Have taken my Mk2 leon to them to have several problems fixed. (Including the alarm problem that seems to have affected a lot of people). Despite not buying the car from them both the sales and service teams have always been really helpful.

Girl colleague at work had a warning light on Mk 1 Cupra. Newbury put on diagnostic check and said it needed a new water pump. Will cost £400+.
Pinchbeck's in Stockbridge quoted just over half this to include cam belt etc (whilst it was in pieces).
Put it on diagnostic and said it was only the temp something or other. £70 and done whilst she waited.
How can this be?

because they are charlatans at Emmer Green Seat. They told me a new cat would cost me nearly £700. I got it done for £150. I am so sick of the dealers that even though I enjoy my toledo i am considering selling it because you can't get the Haynes manual and the garages spin you a line every time you go down there.

I almost bought a car from this garage, however was put off overhearing the service manager slagging off a customer to a salesman because he wasn't happ with his car. Not a good indicator of customer service!

I would be a bit worried having a Cat that 'only' cost £150 (does that include fitting?). Cats are on the whole in the £350-£750 range and they are refurbished parts. A brand new one is more

Newbury and Emmer Green rip you off bad time with servicing, that is why they are so expensive. I had mine done at Newbury about a year ago and after querying the price looked into it. They over charge for filters significantly. Look at the part numbers on your invoice and ask VW or Skoda or Audi to quote you for the same parts, it is unbelievable how much they mark up the prices. Same goes for the oil I would imagine, though this is a little more difficult to tie down.

Worst of all is the labour times they charge, this is where the major price difference is, again you can compare with the other VWG brands in Newbury. Audi and VW are still cheaper on labour even though they have higher labour rates.

By the time I worked all this out it was too late to complain to Customer Services but if any of you guys have been to either of these branches in the last few months I would complain to SEAT UK. Rip Off Britain at its worst. And then don't go back again!

to keep with my support for emergreen over newbury, i ordered a side skirt jacking point cover and a front bumper tow eye cover from newbury to give them another chance. its taken 4 weeks to get the parts through.

From emergreen i ordered a Bonet, bumper, front light, fog light, grille, badge, thermostat and s a few other smaller bits in one go after a crash. got the lot in 2 days!

figure that one out. will definatly NOT be going to newbury SEAT EVER again!!!!!

indy? guessing indipendant?

german sweedish are fantastic but dont do much for seat and especially the cupra range.

then you got cafco, part co, a-z but thats all generic cheap alternative stuff. you cant beat SEAT or a specialist ( all up north) for propper parts.

anyway, to continue my saga, 4 weks waiting and its the wrong part anyway. Newbury are so bad i cannont belive it. no joke here, they have done nothing correct in the times i have gone there.

they dont wont budge on new car prices
dont give discount for bulk order
they dont know there own stock
they dont seem to know the cars and parts relating too the cars
it take 4 weeks to get parts from milton keynes
they need reminding who you are
they call back without knowing what they are calling about
they dont seem happy at work or welcoming when you walk in.

they are completly rubbish in all respects and all dealings i have had with them.

in quite sure this message wont be here long but this is my own opinoin i will stick by it.
