Cupra R Wheels on a Toledo V5

[Mertian]

Been registered on the forum for a while now but only been lurking 'til now.

Anyways, I've got a Toledo V5 with the 16" '80s 'Ferrari' esk wheels. Never been too keen on them. Really like the look of the Leon Cupra R wheels, but not sure if they will fit? What the price would be? Would they ruin the handling as the car has been set up to run on 16s not 18s

Anyone done this mod?

AFAIK Neil (tdi 110) is the only toledo owner running the LCR 18's, but his is a 1.8T.

I've been running 17's (you can see some picks in ICE link in my sig) but have since upgraded to 18's as well. I think the handling is much better with 17's or 18's. The biggest problem with the toledo (actually on leon as well) is that the OE front shocks are underdamped.

They'll fit very well since the Leon and Toledo are almost the same.
Fitting Cupra R wheels shouldn't be a problem on your V5

As said above the 18's should fit fine, but will always look better with slightly lowered suspension - mind you the Toledo is a longish car so it might not be so obvious.
As for the five spoke alloys, they are similar in style to the Ibiza Cupra Turbo ones, I think they look quite nice for O.E. ones so if you wanna sell 'em cheap I might well be interesed...much easier to clean than the multi spoke Cupra ones.

I really not to keen on the OE 5 spoke wheels myself.

Not that keen on them myself but okay as OE ones go and much easier to clean than the multispoke jobbies.

Euro 2004 - would love to but think the Missus would have something to say on that score!(forgive the pun) Those days are long gone.

I wasnt too keen on the OE ones either.

Bought some Golf Montreal II's for mine.

Still 16" though.

Makes it look a bit difo.

When I get bored might upgrade to 17" or 18"

I was looking for some good Cupra R ones.

Gave up in the end.........

I went for some 17s as well - bought the optional extras ones. I quite like them - they've got a polished rim.

I really like those wheels jacknelle. Seen them on foreign cars before but not many about in this country.

Not seen a Toledo or Leon for that matter before on Golf Monty 2s either but not surprised to see it done as there's a plentyful supply of them about 2nd hand.
Cheap for tyres too as you can pick up full sets of Cupra 16s and Golf 16s with good tyres for less than the price of a few new tyres and just swap 'em over.

18s must be okay if your boss is paying for the tyres or you're a fashion die hard but I hate to think how much new tyres are for those.

Thanks. The wheels are a VW optional extra abroad, called Siata. For some reason though, SEAT sell them as an optional extra here. They are quite unique - never seen them on any other VW/SEAT etc.

For tyres, I went for the obligatory Goodyear F1s (225/45/17) - 125 quid a corner. I could have probably got a better price, but I couldn't wait. Plus the tyre fitter (Denmead Tyres) is very well respected, and they even fitted the tyres with alloy valves and caps - a nice touch.

IIRC just like the 18" R wheels, they're cheaper than the MY03 Leon wheels.

Just replaced the Vdub ones with Auidi Sport ones, more like the OE ones and easier to clean!

i've got a V5 toledo in silver with the cupra r 18" wheels looks cool as hell (red painted calipers too).

I haven't lowered the suspension though as I've heard bad things about sumps hitting speed bumps! Doesn't look too high though, it just doesn't look low thats all and i do a stack of miles each year so need that comfort and sump well away from the bumps.

Just put some FR badges on too..... not sure if I like them but it adds a bit of colour to my silver paint, silver wheels.

i run 18" wheels 35 mm lowered no probs with speed humps but mine is a tdi but under tray never hits .Tires falkens 225 40 18 £140 a pair fitted which i don't find to bad .But the price people pay for second hand cupra r wheels you can get new wheels and tires
