Ok ive looked hi and low and posted a few people private, but a few months ago my passenger side window packed up after some1 slammed the door, ended up taking it to seat who told me nothing to worry about, window regulators had gone etc... So I asked them to fix it, cost me £345!!! funny thing was when I picked the car up (Stoneacre Seat Peterborough) the woman seemed to make an effort to tell me these thing are prone to going all the time, and that at any time it could happen again. Well storage enough it did THE NEXT DAY! Only this time it was the driver side, now I have no idea if they fixed this to happen to me or weather it was a strange coincidence. But it happened all the same. I was not going to spend another £345   on my dam window again within 2 days, so I decided to put it on a "to do list" and just wedged it shut, but now I’m about to sell car, and I don’t think its fair that some1 else should have the misfortune of getting a faulty car. So I checked out a few topics here and found the following link

http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1015107 (please not this is a USA JETTA) not a UK LEON!

And I also followed onto this link

http://www.worldimpex.com/parts/genunine-part-window-regulator-kit_179095.html

Would any of these parts fit my car, has any one ever fixed this problem and is it easy? I'm quite practical and can follow instructions. But I really don’t want to spend £345   :( on a car I’m about to sell. Can any one help?

think the parts are the same mate. the bit that breaks is plastic but vw in their wisdom have upgraded it to a metal part. once its been done should not happen again. you can buy the kit and do it yourself, all fairly easy, but you have to strip nearly the whole door apart.

you will probs need a second person to help as really awkward on your own.:)

i had the window cable snap on my passengers side, got the parts off someone on here, followed the guide on vw vortex, which is excellent, and replaced it all myself, with a little help from me dad, took a couple of hours to do, but better than spending 350 odd quid. Note of caution, if you have tints, be careful not to stratch them when your fiddling about in the door!

300 notes plus seems expensive done loads of mk4 golfs at work of memory the repair kit was around 50 notes and the complete reg 100 with the difference in labour time they work out about the same price 150 sterling should easily cover the job done and no nasty spanner rash:)

TBH it looks a bitch of a job and I hope I never have to sort it. Does anyone know if the later LCR's 05/55/06 have the metal regulator or the same shitty plastic one?

Same thing happened to my LC with the front passenger window last year.
I took it in to the dealers for repair, and while I waited, I was told the driver's side had "Just failed" also!!
So had to get them both fixed on the same day.

Cost me £289.32 total.

Part Number 1M0837461\2 £39.78 inc. each
Labour £209.76

I got the part from VW teeside.

Job was an absolute pain and took me all day.

Clips hadn't broken but the cable reel had failed. Put on new cable and new clips, but the cable was a nightmare to get back on!

Then had to seal the panel back on with black silicone sealant.

Wish I'd just taken it to a garage

Not an easy job.
