Push Button Start

Ok, so call me stupid (cus only have a vague idea) but is a push button start not a switch and a relay? Why therefore are they 60 notes? I dont get it? Am i missing something here or can i not pick up these parts from a scrap yard?

Second theory is that maybe im paying for instructions. Which ill never be able to understand anyway. Does any one know of a step by step guide? Or fancy helping me? Anyway, let me know. Id like to know what i need and where it goes :D

Told you i was stupid...

iirc you still have to have your key in the ignition for push buttons starter thingys, so stop being lazy and twist the key! I mean sure its cool, but its just a gimick, the novelty would wear off after a while!

Ive got one on mine mate, only reason i fitted mine was my ignition switch packed in and seat wanted £150 to fit it because apparently you need a special tool which i didnt have at work. All i used was a 4 pin relay, spring loaded switch( need this type of switch or the starter will be engaging all the time) and some wire and connectors. Just probed the wiring comming from the ignition switch and found the 2 wiring required, put the main feed into the relay and then used the small switch to power the earth side of the relay so that it didnt burn out the small switch. Got relay n wiring etc.. from work n cost me £2.50 for a switch, ive got the new ignition switch in my box at work but im soo used to this now and i cant be arsed to fit the switch. Plus the push button on mine is hidden and its like an added immobiliser, loads of my friends have tired to start my car n still dont know where the button is.

you have to wire it into just the wire that fires the starter - so.... you still have to put the key in & turn it most of the way anyway

Its just for the novelty, if i was lazy, surely i wudnt be bothered to do it. If u think of the effort u wasted by pushing all the keys typing a response to the thread i cud of pushed my starter button about 100 times :p and yes i know the novelty will wear off blah blah but i can decide that for myself, but thanks for your responses anyway!

Black 20v Turbo, any more details about those 2 wires coming from the ignition switch? Mine are wrapped in mountains of sticky felt type stuff, going into the loom, i wouldnt want to do anything silly. Id like to know where exactly they are and what colours if you can remember. I wouldnt be bothered myself, but photographs would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks for your response mate.

my mate has got the renault megane with the start button, it is kind of flash u have to press it to start and press it again to stop but i would be so paranoid about snapping the card or even losing it
