I've had my LEON TFSi FR DSG for 2 weeks now & some silly cow has cut me up & took my wing mirror off :censored: Well I hope that's all she has done as it's too dasrk to see anything else !She drove off without stopping so I had to follow her flashing my lights until she did stop. She was very patronising & didn't understand my annoyance at her inadequate driving. Apparently it's only a wing mirror & this sort of thing happens all the time:censored::censored::censored:. Anyway got her insurance details but I know after excess it's probably not gonna be worth it. Any sympathy ?:cry::cry:

if your claiming of her insurance, then there is no excess to pay.

You only pay excess if they are claiming of your insurance, or if your claiming on your insurance.

At least thats how i've always understood it..

Take photo, should always try and get a witness, and report it to the police, so you get a reference number for insurance company, aswell as the other persons details.

If its there fault then you will pay no excess or loose your no claims. However she could say it was your fault now, as it sounds like you have no witness.

If she is knocking wing mirrors off all the time she should not be allowed on the roads!

Sorry to hear that. Under the Road Traffic Act it isn't a recordable collision so the Police probably wont record it, my force certainly wouldn't. It is only recordable if there is injury, damage to third party or other driver fails to stop or there are offences etc.

If you clashed mirrors then it may be difficult to prove fault and it may be knock for knock. This happened to me and although I was stationary I had no witnesses so couldn't prove it. Good Luck though.

ask her if shed rather pay cash for a 'relatively cheap' repair rather than go through her insurance.
try to make it sound as though your doing her a favour.

btw, what sort ofcar was she driving, and how was its mirror (for comparison)?

She was driving a Honda Accord estate. I'm going thru her insurance so hopefully no cost to me. My wife was in the car (not sure she can count as a witness !) I agree if she is knocking wing mirrors off all the time she shouldn't be on the roads. I'm pretty sure she was going to drive off witout stopping had I not followed & flashed my lights several times. I'm still:censored: now about the whole thing !!!!!!!!!!!!! GGRRRRRR

Unfortunately it will knock up your insurance, if your claiming off hers.

I've found that even claims were the money is recovered from another party are knocking mine up and some companies are even refusing to quote.

working for an insurance company I think the outcome could be knock for knock as it will be hard to prove who's fault it is without witnesses. Unless she was driving the wrong way down a one way street etc

If you have to take the door cards off to fit it then let the dealer do it for £80, apparently it's the hardest job in the world. The window regulator is bolted to the door card!
