Guys,

Bit the bullet today and got my local Angel Tuning Dealer to remap my cupra.

Well, I was a bit sceptical as we all play with the more well known tuners here such as Revo and CC.

I had no reason to be. The guy who runs the local branch in Troon, Ayrshire was very much a clued up guy with tuning all sorts of cars including vag.

I took the car for a spin afterwards and well it was astonishing to say the least. The roads were a bit greasy and the traction was flashing a lot but as I drove the car for another 30 mins or so the esp system has learnt from its experiences and flashes a lot less. The car can be driven normally at slow speeds but open it up and the car just goes mental. The speedo just rose at lightning pace.

He tells me that its showing 315bhp which seems a fair estimate in my opinion.

Take a risk guys with Angel, a truly professional company and a bargain at £350 inc vat.

10/10:cartman:

I went to him but they will travel to you free of charge if you would like.

It is switchable by the dealer and will do it for a mileage charge only or you can visit them and will do foc.

Just come back from another trip out. Sooooooooooooo addictive but had to be careful as its a bit icy outside.

Kicks ass.

Drove in to work this morning. Drove like a regular commuter ie slow. Was smooth as a babys bum. Very easy to live with day to day but put a bit more pressure on the loud pedal and the car explodes into life.

PS The rain was pelting down this morning and handled it with aplomb. A lightish foot mind you

I did the same with a local firm, P-torque in Wolverhampton, paid £350 all in. 318bhp & 420nm torque. Smooth & progressive :) Sub 5 sec to 62 if the road is dry. Truly amazing. Again, they spcialise in VAG group cars & this flas upgrade has been extensively tested on a track day at croft & its spot on.

by sub 5, you mean 4.9s or better? in which case :cartman:

Yea, then n the otehr hand if you screw up your launch, too much spin off, or not enough revs, then its mid or even upper 5's. Its some in the in gear comparisons, like 50-100 in 4th or 80-100 in 6th that realy impress.

Hi, you have only remap, no other mods??? I will send my ECU to P-torque next week, 318hp is great :p

I do have the forge blow off spacer of the recirc valve, no effect on power, but assists in release of the extra boost, reducing stress on the pipework, I do have a foam panel filter in place of the paper one supplied as standard, as the upgrade car rip the paper one apart, but really just a stage 1 ECU flash engine already has, braced block, bigger injectors, bigger turbo & uprated pistons & con rods as standard. Yuo need to check out their high flat torque curve too, amazingly drivable & on full flow between 3000 - 7000 rpm, nice broad full output range. Pulls well below 3000 rpm but hits balistic at 3000 :)

I often hit a 4.8 on a good lift off. I think this is pretty impressive, but you have no guarantee with the british roads, its probably upper 5's with the roads at the monent, but the in gear pull is a fearce regardless. You just have to learn what power you can use and where, a bit of discipline :):):):)

If I can get a mate on a dry day to film the speedo, you can time it yourselves. As stated, it is very difficuly to achieve being FWD, you need to get the take off right and the road needs to be really dry. Its just shy of 6 seconds, which is only marginally quicker than standard, but the real pull is from 3rd up which you can still use & enjoy.

Hi Cupra II

Very interested. What about insurance?

P-torque only have their offer on until end of Jan for a £350 remap, then its back to their still reasonable £450 & £45 if you want the rolling road before and after results as every car varies a little.

Once declared to the insurance, it goes up by nearly as much as the cost of the remap. A couple of high performance specialists will give you a good quote, if you are over 30 and a clean license & full no claims, its quite easy to stomach.
