1.9L TDI Oil Leak

Hi there, just found this forum, so far it looks great.
Now down to business, I have just brought a 1998 Ibiza 1.9L TDI very happy with it apart from it has a small oil leak, after playing around with it it seems to be coming from here (see photo) I pusted the connector on as it was half off and oil came out but looks like leak has stopped (so far)
So could anyone please tell me what this sensor is and why would it be leaking oil from it?

ok I have checked it looks like it is coming from the rocker cover and running down the side to the coolant sensor

are these known for failing? also would this course smoke? seen to get smoke from the exhaust int.

that'd make more sense

lift the cover & replace the gasket. won't take long at all, and is a nice cheap fix

If the oil finds its way onto any part of the manifold or exhaust then this will smoke as it burns off.

ok after playing with it today I now know what the problem is, and it is the turbo blown like a good one, and as I got the car out of the paper I have no come back, so it looks like my like with Seat might be a short one unless anybody here has a spare 1.9tdi turbo they are looking to sell?

OK well I have a new turbo fitted and all is well, thanks for all people for there help
