Thay are a lot shinier in the flesh

Very nice indeed. Did you have them powder coated over the original paint or did you remove the old paint in some way? Looks very shiny too, are they clear coated (or lacquered, I'm not sure on the word in english.. hope you get my point)?

I've been considering having my LCR wheels powder coated too as there are quite a lot of light scratches on them, no real damage from curbing etc though. I like the original colour, titanium grey or something like that, so wouldnt like to change it too much. A bit darker if anything.

Powder coating is quite expensive there in England it seems? My local (in Finland) powder coating specialist will do a set of alloys for 50€ (about £40) in any colour from the RAL colour chart.

there are some companys that say they powdercoat but they dont, its a bit thicker then normal spray but not charged up like powdercoat, a local place quoted me £40 i wnt along and they were not even going to beed blast them first, just a little rub down and away you go,

stay away from cheap deals, its not worth it in the long run, mine just cost £180, the cost for this sort of thing is about £150 inc the meterials and man hours.

They really do powder coating I know that for a fact. Don't know about the thickness of the paint layer though.

That 50€ doesn't include blasting as they cannot do that with their equipment. But they say the finish would be good just by having the wheels powder coated over the old paint (they wont quarantee if the old paint can take the heat, most paints can though they say) if there are no major marks. Light scratches would be covered neatly.

For all of you considering the black alloys with the red lip linked to on this thread.:

Before ordering these note that they are deep dish.
I would be gobsmacked to find they would fit onto an LCR and clear brembos.

If you do really want to go ahead then get some guarantees. (although i note it does say LCR is ok on the advert)

I had mine done by "Spit and polish"
Thay strip the wheel back to bare alloy and then repair any damage that the wheel might have, thay are then preped and powder coated and laquerd.
Thay cost £55 each but i think it was worth it and the finnish is spot on.

I think mine were done on the cheap by the previous owner as the coating is now peeling away and the original coat is showing through. The spare is worse as all the front rim edge of the alloy has been scuffed off badly suggesting the car's gone off the road or been dragged down a curb. Just got to find the right time to get them refurbed as I need my car all week to get to work and we have next to no public transport out where I live.

Anthracite on silver, red and yellow LCR's does look good though. Was this alloy colour ever done on factory built LCR's as I've seen quite a few now?

hi can anyone suggest a good light silver ral number? i had a look at the ral chart that the powder coater had and any silver looked more of a dull grey/blue than a silver, they also only had a very dark gun metal type metallic or smoked chromed finish but since my car is black i was looking a lighter colour.
Only one i can find so far is aluminium metallic RAL 9006?

i just got my cupra alloys re-furbed only took about 4 weeks to do lol as i had to do it one at a time but it was worth the odd looking alloys as they look great now, in gloss black with a diamond cut lip. i looked at hiring a car for a week but cost loads of money and so i was patient and saved myself the 103 quid :)

How did you do the diamond cut lip?

Cheers
