I am planning to change the oil and filter in the next few days on my 54plate LCR. The oil I am planning on using is millers 5w30 XF longlife; and i will be getting an original part filter from my local dealer. This will be a mid-service oil change.
I am just after any advice people think will be relevant and reassurance that the oil and filter I am planning to use are the best for the car?

Thanks in advance.
(i have searched a fair bit, but just after any extra tips etc:))

Sound good to me mate!
Millers is top quality, use Synta when i can't get Millers!
Good luck mate! Nice easy job! Just remember and don't strip the sump plug!

How are you taking the old filter off? If its the same size as the VW filters which i presume it is get an oil filter socket from laser-halfords stock them also. Makes quick work of it and isnt half as messy as other methods like the old screw driver i used to use.

did mine this weekend with that oil, seems fine mate,

i did the old screwdriver trick,

mine took basicly all 5l of the oil ans the sump plug does have a washer on it,

i let mine drain till it was dripping, put the plug back in for 15 minutes and took it out again, a **** load more oil came out,

also run the car to warm the oil before you empty it,

right, just done mine. i couldn't get hold of any millers :( so i have used castrol edge 5w30 as i noticed i few others on here have. i used a filter chain to undo my filter (wrap it round, connect a rachet and undo; quite a clean method!). mine took around 4.5-5 litres - will check it again after a few miles. cheers for your help guys :)
