I'm looking at some Ripspeed Tyre/Wheel packages at Halfrauds anyone know what Offset I need for a 2001 TDI SE ?..................I'd like it to look like they are filling the arches.

They start at 17" with ONLY 205/40 tyres.............or 215/35 anyone ever used Halfrauds as a supplier for thier Wheel/Tyres ?

I wondered what combination I could go up to & if they said 225/30 x 17 or 18 would that be stupid ?

Anyone got any Ripspeed Raptor or BK Racing 166 or BK Racing 300 on thier Tolley ? (or Leon Mk1)

i believe you can get away with 35 to 38 offset... i think my OZ were 35.
they were 225 (8" wide) 45 (profile) 17" rims.

The ideal tyre package for the car is 45/17" or 40/18" tyres. (means the overall wheel size is the same as the original wheel)....
My wheels were not from Halfords but another car accessory place and they were a package. Basically you tell them what car they are for and they should be able to tell you what you need....!

Thanks for all that !

I'm going to get a set of BK Racing wheels...................these can be supplied with an off set of either et38 or et40 am I right in saying that the larger the offset the "wider" the over track of the car & the more likely the wheels/tyres are to fill the Empty spaces under the wheel arches ?

These are 17 x 7J .............what width wheels are standard on the TDi FR's/Cupra's 17" what about the Petrol Cupras 18" what width are they ?

No, the opposite - you want ET38 (or lower) if you want the overall track wider - closer to the arches

Smaller offsets basically means there's more metal on the back of the wheel, pushing it out into the arches

18" are 225 (or 8J) generally

These are 18x8J ET30 (ET35 with 5mm spacers)

obviously 7 / 7.5" will stick out less with the same offset
