Hi,
My LCR has it's 1st MOT tomorrow, just wondering a few things:

Brakes: Front brakes have a definate lip on the disks, is this a problem?

Headlights: These are HIDS, but have been aligned properly, again will this be OK?

Number Plates: They are all correct in term of lettering and style (though front one is a bit smaller), but have no VIN numbers etc.. on them. Will this cause a problem?

Exhaust: I have the full piper system with race CAT. Does this pass OK?

Answers to the above / appropriate advice welcome.
thanks,

John

Hi matey
I had my first MOT back in March so ill try and awnser some of your questions :)
1. Brakes - I wouldnt worry about it my disks had and still have a bit of a lip on them and I had no problems.
2. HID's - I also have these fittted and it sailed through without a hitch
3. Plates - Cant see these being a problem
4. Exhaust - I only have a Blueflame system from CAT back so cant really say but mine went through ok

Good luck anyway ;)

Depends on the MOT station but I was told plates had to be legal. I got some made up for my first MOT the other week and just stuck them over with some sticky tabs.

I had no issues with my self fitted HID's either. No adjustment was needed.

Thanks for your help. it's a garage I know who also does the servicing so hopefully all will be well.
I might still have the old plates lying around, might pop them on.

some may say lala land....
slightly off but along same lines;
you mention about number plate not having vin etc on them.
Since when did these have the vin on them? and what is the etc?

as long as correct font and spacing it should be fine and dandy

The British Standard also requires that a number plate must be marked with the following information: -

* The British Standard Number (currently BS AU 145d)
* The name, trade mark, or other means of identification of the manufacturer or component supplier. (The company who actually make the number plates.)
* The name and postcode of the supplying outlet. (The 'supplying outlet' is taken to mean a company whose business consists wholly or partly of selling number plates.)
