Red's not too bad actually. I have some lacquer peeling on my roof. but it's on the plastic strips that a roof rack would attach too, so nothing too much to worry about.

I realise I dont have a cupra, but its the same red paint lol!

Any excuse to post a pic lol if you wash it regularly and wax/polish it will keep the deep colour and shine:

Ditto to the above, look after the paint and it will look after you, IE regular wash and polish and wax.

yup, mine is a 2001 (Y), paint on it is still great, but fading slightly on bumpers, handles and wing mirrors, but nothing to worry about!

Mine's 2001 (Y) and the drivers door no-longer matches the rest of the car (although you have to get close to notice it) but apart from that it's really very good. And my problem doesn't seem too common - I've had the car as 2nd owner but couldn't tell if the door was sprayed for some reason in it's history - but no obvious signs that it was.

silvers dont suffer much at all as they are metallic paint and use a 2 part paint method.
2 part = pure paint then another layer or laquer
1 part (red, yellow blue etc etc) = paint and laquer mixed in to 1 then applied.

advantages of 2 part, paint does not fade as the laquer is UV protective
dissadvantages are, if paint is scratched it will need to be laquered once the scratch is removed.

advantages of 1 part, paint can be machine polished without having to worry about re laquering
dissadvantages are paint does fade.

Same with my old red one. As long as the paint has been looked after and you continue to do so, it'll be fine. One of the nicest colors when the paintwork has been kept in good condition!

Before i bought my red cupra i saw a few others. Saw to yellow (onvi) ones and noth had really bad paint fade... like the roof was a different colour to the door panels and even those didnt match. Saw another red one and it was fine so in general theyt tend to hold up a hell of alot better than the yellow ones. A good thing to bear in mind is that when you go to view the car, if they really want to sell it, they would have given it a good clean and wax so you should get to see it in a good condition!

wow that looks awsum i myt have to polish mine more tha once a month now
dont polish it that often, maybe once every 3 months, better off waxing mate, buy a decent wax and you will notice a huge difference in depth of shine

well i can always take her off your hands ;) would love a car like yours

got new wheels for it, so will be keeping it for a while, going to fit this ko3s thats been sittin in my house for a year aswell!!
