And there's also a new Firmware 1100 for the RNS 510 Rev. A

Indeed new maps would be very desirable, although I wouldn't want to lose my speed camera POI's!

please forget about getting new sw!!!! we have lots of repairs right now, people upgrading sw and units diening, so be careful with this!!!

how would you update the system? just pop in the dvd and it will load the new maps?

if so, what about getting a few of us together and buy one, rip it and share it?

Yes but surley the people having issues are the ones trying to download maps and install dodgy copies? surely an official dvd from vw would be fine?

There are A units and B units, the new firmware apparently gives most of the new features from the B unit on the old A unit.

Im running 1020 firmware on an A unit with V3 maps inc extras (thanks to NickP) and all running perfect, so I will let the guinea pigs take the risk before I change anything!

yeah im on v3... no extras though, what you got ? Whats difference between the a and b units?

I wasnt aware there was 2 versions?

If you will download somewhere maps or you will have copy its not problem for unit, it will just make a upgrade on hardisk, but be careful with sw upgrades. older units have wrong part on mainboards and units died very offen.
