Cheers lads, I think I'll visit Halfords and buy some TSR or Bug n Tar remover.

I don't doubt that thinners would do the job but i'd rather use something that's designed for the job.

Custom LCR Splitter

I've never really liked the LCR splitter that came attached to my front bumper when I bought it. I tried to make it fit better by spacing the middle section, but I still wasn't happy with the way it looked. Over the past week or two I've been messing about making a custom splitter out of two LCR splitters. This is a pic of the standard LCR splitter

These are pics of how I bent the ends of the splitter to match the Cupra bumper. I heated the plastic with a heat gun, bent it into position, screwed it down to the plywood and then left it to cool

In this pic you can see how much I had to bend the ends

I then plastic welded the two halves together

Smoothed over with some fibreglass filler

I also plastic filled this part of the splitter to smooth it out

I then rubbed down the whole piece and sprayed a few coats of filler primer to fill in the textured surface. I then sprayed the splitter to try and match the rest of the Cupra grilles.

I’m not that impressed with it tbh. It does fit the bumper better but I’m not sure about it.

What do you lot reckon?

imo the standard one looked better. your one does sit to far in.

good effort though

I don't think either of them look good really. However the front just doesn't look right without some sort of splitter attached.

I originally wanted to make a splitter from scratch out of a single piece of plastic....but I couldn't find a big enough piece of plastic that would be suitable

i like the way the splitter sit on the part of the bumper hangs down but the central part of the splitter looks odd!

i dont know how you would make it out of one piece

I thinks it's a great effort! Looks so much better around the edges of the bumper. Could you not weld an extension to the middle part to make it deeper, bringing it in line with the front of the bumper?

I have to applaud your efforts mate! Looks great around the sides of the bumper, but looks a bit odd where the two join... it doesn't follow the angle of the bumper in the middle bit. Fair play for having a go though! Run with it for a while and you might keep it!

top effort, looks alot better fit and looks made for the ibiza nowm, but sitting too far back, like the way it sits normally, but i like seeing people try some DIY and not being afraid

I think it looks ten times better myself.

Cant see what everyone is complaining about.

+1

it looks a lot more in keeping with the bumper and looks great. Makes the whole look much cleaner
