Water in footwell one of the main things from dodgy door seals but if you do a search(top right corner) you will find lots of info on this.

By the way I had ctr before lcr imo ctr more reliable but to be honest most things that go wrong with lcr have easy fix an cheap enough parts. lcr far better for comfort and easy modding for more power

THAT IS THE THING WITH A ctr..they are reliable...

what i'll like about the lcr is it has a turbo and its has five doors:D......and there are not loads abouts....

but had a 206 180 which was always breaking down, and couldnt live like that again..

Had mine 18 month now its a 52 and never broke down(touch wood) its needed a couple of sensors which were fairly cheap and easy to fit using guides off here but it was nothing that put the car out of action

I've had my LCR from new, will be 4 years old this year. The only thing I've had to replace is the coolant bottle (sensor was shot, and is part of the bottle), which was less than a tenner.

I've read all about the 'common' faults, coil packs, MAF's, door leaks and so on... but touch wood, I've yet to experience any of this :)

I have a FN2 CTR and it's not a patch on my old LCR. Never had any reliability issues with the LCR.

All I'd say is make sure you get a newer 225 LCR

Hi Mate..

Id recommened the Leon Cupra R to anyone looking for an EXCELLENT all rounder!!! Not too expensive, easy to repair, damn good 18inch alloys, factory body styling, nice exhaust system, 5 doors and still looks the part ... )unlike other 5dr's in its range), a strong 1.8T engine from an Audi S3 and 225bhp!!!! nothing else really compares to it in its price range from looks to power. i could go on and on ..... Coming from a history of Mk4 golfs, 1.8T and TDI's ... id say 4 words, GET AN LCR NOW!!!

The LCR is pretty well screwed together as its VW/Audi at the end of the day. Have a search through the leon mk1 and lcr areas as all the common issues are listed. Remeber people will only post with problems and not to say all is well so don't be put off if you find posts about issues!

on an 04/05 plate you'll get the 225 version which is very slightly different from the 210 again search for the differences as all there.

In the 18months I had mine didnt have any issues at all and after a remap things just got better and better.

Full service history from a Main Dealer or specialist.

Excellent advice, but consider that if you buy privately, then you can also ask the owner/seller to take you for a drive - if they thrash the car from cold, you know it's had a hard life. But if they warm-up the engine properly etc, then you know it's been driven & looked after correctly (assuming there's also a FSH). ;)
