Leon cupra tdi 150 hesitation problem

Hi,i have done a search on this and doesnt seem to bring anything up other than petrol Leon's.

The problem i have is that when going uphill/downhill or on the flat it hesitates just as the turbo comes in.

If i am aggressive with it and floor it hard it wont do it, but just on light throttle just as the turbo comes in it splutters and then goes ok as i accelarate harder,

If i keep it at the same revs when it starts to hesitate it will keep doing it,giving a slight chirp/tish(not like a dump valve though,a little tish!)

It will do it hot or cold, slightly worse when hot.

It has had a full service around 6 months ago with a fresh fuel/air filter.it is slightly overdue for a cambelt by around one year, but thats by time not milage, milage is 51,000 miles.

Would anybody seen or had this problem???info would be fantastic.

Thanks

could be your fuel pump you had it pluged in and diagnostics done on it? is it smokey too? can be early fuel pump signs or mass air flow sensor could be on its way out to. both give off the same sort of signs.

How can i get these tested???it is a diesel you are talking about, how do i go about pluggin the fuel pump in as its a high pressure pump on the leon fr 150 and shouldnt the maf meter throw a code????????i have no EML light on the dash.
thanks for the info so far.

well best bet vagcom they can not throw lights up sometimes, if its on its way out the can just put a fault code up not fully registering on the dash display. these codes are on the system though and can be read with the vagcom. might want to try find a mate or garage that has one. if the minor codes appear on there generally means its on the way out and will shortly be needing a new one.

Hi,i had my vehicle plugged in by a mate today(not at a garage) and it came up with the following fault
VALVE FOR PUMP INJECTION CYLINDER 1 LIMIT EXCEEDED.

Do you guys have any idea what this could be as my mate didn't have a clue really, help please as the problem seems to be getting worse. Many thanks in advance

Loss of power/ engine stutter

Have you discovered what the problem is as my car (TDI Cupra 150) is doing the exact same thing. The engine stutters at around 1800 rpm. Mine also has the same millage on it. Mine lost all power the other day and initially would not rev past 1200 rpm. I knocked the engine off and back on and then it wouldn't rev past 2500 rpm. I took it to seat who agreed that there was no throttle. They put it on the diagnostic machine and no fault codes came up. They restarted the engine and the throttle magically returned. I am interested to see what is wrong with yours as it is probably the same as mine.

Hi again, went back on the diagnostic machine again today and the same code phrase as above but with the code number 17669......any ideas???????????????

Also some times the traction control light comes on with the code Engine control unit 1314 but this was under the brakes section on the machine.

Any info on these codes would be great as the problem is getting worse daily.

Many thanks in advance :)

Thanks for the info guys.

Yes the vehicle has lost power and when the eml comes on the mpg drop drastically.

Regarding sorting out the problem what does See Meas Value block 8 mean and also what is the best way to test the injector wireing???other than a visual check???

Also the vehicle has a PDI plug in chip on it,has done for years now,do you guys think this could cause this??i would have thought it could so ill take it off to see but as i said its been on there for about two years so it might have caused something else to go maybe.

Also anyone shed some light on the other code??

Many thanks so far,great help

bin the plug in chip... they do nothing other than fool the ecu into thinking theres more air flowing so adjusts the fuelling accordingly, thats where the mpg drop will be from.

meas block 8... means block 8 on vagcom check mate.

could well be the maf on the way out.

id bet on there being a leak in the dv pipewrok, or the n249 pipework somewhere.

also check the tip for leaks.

Many thanks for the response mate, yea its funny because the chip has been on it for around two years and its run fantastic,it wasn't one of those cheap ebay ones that fool the car into thinking its cold all the time to increase the fueling, new its nearly a 400 pound chip but i bought it second hand and the mpg has been great, around 50-60 mpg.Is it rubbish????

Regarding the leak,is there a dv pipe on the tdi 150??? if so were???and the n249 pipework????and regarding check the tips for a leak etc,is it a petrol you are on about???If not ill go and take off all the pipes and check them all if its the diesel you are on about.

Many thanks for your info so far guys, some more would be great:)

Think the problem is solved guys, firstly there was a split in the boost pipe that runs around the inside of the driver side wheel, there was a split in the alloy pipe.I have also removed the chip and it runs soooooo much better now and the eml hasn't come back on since then.

Whilst fixing the job i checked all pipes and was surprised how much oil was in them and the throttle butterfly was really carbonized so i have put a post in the diesel modification section regarding if you can bypass the crank vent pipe.

Many thanks for the info on my problem:)

what will be the best way to access this pipe as i will have to check it on my car. the seat garage said they checked the pipes but not sure how much detail they searched with. mine got better when i added some injector cleaner which reduced the hesitation but as soon as that when through it was back.
