hey people i got an ibiza cupra and when i first got it, it was boosting at 8psi and then i got an evolution remap last week and the car suddenly started boosting at about 2 - 3 psi which was strange i finally had enough and went to a revo dealer today and explained the situation to them and they done a diognostic check on the car and it was completly clear :S so i thought its got to be the map so i had just taken the map out of the car about an hour ago and the car is still boosting at around 2 - 3 psi please help ive checked for boost leaks and there are none what so ever all the vac hoses have been switched to silicone hosing.??? :(

You've removed the map? How so?

Any warning lights up on the dash? Does it feel like it's mis-firing at all?

Have you got access to VAG COM? Logs would be handy

thanks for the reply buddy, yeah i got the map taken out earlier today but still no difference, a revo dealer done a diog check on the car and no faults found so i could of only imagined it to be the map but im still unsure, its so bad right now at full throttle i cant even seen to get to 100mph without a crazy hammering to the car :(, no lights on the dash its all clear im just left with confusion, i was told if i take off the n75 valve the car should over boost i tried that and still nothing.

If you have got access to vag com it would be worth doing some logs to try and diagnoce the problem.

DOes it misfire? what happens when you plant your foot to the floor any noises etc...

common on 1.8ts is the maf could try unplugging that and seeing if it runs any better

i had the car in agt a vw specialist today and vag com'd it again and we got a fault code on the ecu (18011 p1603 035 control module defective sporadic), they mentioned something about the ecu being faulty but the car driven the same before the map was even taken out so im really confused, im thinking of buying an n75 valve? any ideas?

I dont understand how you took the map out? maps are ussally re- programming the ecu software to run other than standard settings.
IF they have said you have a faulty ecu surely they could have done damage to the ecu while mapping. maybe none reversible by "removing the map".

just suggestions try and get another ecu and swopping them over and see how it runs.

hi mate basically i bought the car from standard and then i got the map after, when i bought the car it was boosting at 8 psi when i got the map it went down to 2 - 3 psi so i thought it may be the map so i had it taken back out and still nothing. how much are ecu's roughly? and do you think it could also be the n75?

N75 would likely through a fault (I'd have thought anyway) - logging with VAG COM should give you a better indication of what's going on

Has it done this ever since the ECU was flashed or did it start soon after?

as soon as the ecu was flashed the fault come up as control module defective, a few people have mentioned to change the n75 valve, ive ordered one and it should arrive tomoro im going to give it a try and see if it solves the prob hmm not to sue though im worried if its the ecu thats messed up.

OK, and did the boosting issue start as soon as the ECU fault was logged just after it was flashed or did the boosting issue only crop up a few miles later??

problem solved car boosting at 22psi absolute monster, after everything it was the catalyic converter which was completely blocked woo:D
(EVOLUTION REMAPS)

Well done on getting your car sorted.

Its un-common for this to happen but this is the second time I have seen this.

I do happen to know Bobby and he's very good at getting to the bottom of things.
Stick with him and he will sort you out. :)

hmm mine has the exact same symptoms, mine has apparantly been remapped and sould be running at 200bhp, but when i first got it (on saturday) it was only boosting to 3 psi, so i bypassed the n249 valve and was then boosting to 3.5 psi, and for some reason the actuator had been wound right down so we checked my mates ibiza and set mine the same, also believe it or not the car had no bov just 2 blanking plugs! iv fitted a standard bosh bov and now runs better and now boost to 5 psi, but still no were near as it should, iv unplugged the maf and ran it but no difference, going to check all vac hoses this weekend, also had it on vag com and no fault codes were found,
does anyone have any suggestions please?

also if i was to decat it, would it put a engine light on, run any different or damage the lambda sensor at all?

also how did you unblock your cat please, or did you buy a new one?

hi mate well i had to order a new cat because its been on the car for about 8 years now so insteada knocking it around, just to order a new one would be the best case. i woulda never thought it would be the problem but it oviously was, it was effecting the turbo really badly as the turbo would only heat up soo bad and glow so i left it with the genius and he done his magic now its running perfect. just order a new catalyic your better off.
