noticed the last few days the leon seems to have a weird droning noise above about 30mph, its not related to the gears i don't think as happens in 3rd and above and its not related to engine speed as it dosen't happen in second when at about 2.5k rpm but does at 1.5k rpm in 6th

when i accelerate it starts to get higher pitched and when slowing down with foot off the gas but not on the brakes it gets lower pitched and sounds rougher. car drives normally still and no lights or weird feel to the steering or anything, its an 05 plate done jsut under 45k

any one any ideas?

I know I don't drive a Leon, but my Ibiza has the same symptoms - drone over 30mph in a straight line. I'd be interested to know if it was the bearings, as a small garage told me they were fine and that it was coming from the front brakes.

i has same problem with leon fr 55 plate - suspected wheel bearing and had it changed but made no difference. Turned out to be tyre noise - as the tyres wear the noise starts to increase. It's happening again now my new tyres are wearing.
