Jack car up, slacken the wishbone nuts and push this out of your way.
Slacken the nyloc nut on top of the ball joint and remove.
This could be difficult to remove so having a ball joint splitter handy will help.

Buy new ball joints, nuts for the top and 6 new wish bone nuts if you want to do it belt and braces.
you can mark the position of the wish bone/ball joint connection before removing but I found mine was slide out to its max on the wish bone.

To be 100% sure you can get a 4 wheel alignment done after this too, but I didn't

Ta for that.
Keep ya's all posted

Yep that what I did when I did my cv joint, take out the 3 wishbone bolts use a spanner or something to push the wishbone down (I used an ajustable) an pull the suspention out. When replacing I had to realign the wishbone/ball joint about 3/4 times if it not straight the steering wheel will not be straight. If it's facing to the left you need to pull the suspention out an vice verser. If tha don't work an you still got tha problem let us know an we will take it in turns to change parts lol

Good news guys!!
No more KNOCKING!! Big massive thanks to Willie for pushing the "ball joint" theory.
Changed both last nite for genuine, and just been out for a drive. To be honest I couldn't feel any play in the old ones and thought I'd wasted another £50 but boy was I wrong, the knocking is gone and it might be in my head but the front end feels so much nicer.
Cant believe its been so overlooked but they really didnt seem worn at all. Wierd eh?
Anyway Willie, I'm coming to you from now on with any more problems haha.
Thing is, I've already convinced my missus I need new suspension Hee
Thanks guys!!

Thats good power matey, not far under mine and we've got similar setups.
I used Custom Code for my map, going back for the stg2 asap, I really need 300bhp HAHA
As for coils, I've tried a few different ones but went back to genuine in the end, I know a lad at BMS who got me some cheap Hee!

BRILLIANT!!!

That's great news, I was hoping this was the cause but did have a little doubt.
The front end felt tighter on mine too after this.

The ball joints and bearings both show signs of wearing on these without showing the normal signs.
The bearings make a noise but don't show up on the normal grab the wheel and wobble it about bit.
Same with the ball joints, they make the low speed vibration without showing any signs of wobbling to hand.

Spread the word;)

That's awsome nice one guys il be doing mine next week thank god willie came along to answer our prayers lol an loony for testin the theory. That's what I'm hoping to achieve around 300hp was supprised with over 300ft/lb mind it has to be the setup, the pull is great but the vibrations annoying but that will soon be gone. Thanks guys :)
