Syphon's MK2 Leon Cupra - mods complete (for now!) - new pics at end of thread :)

Back from the dead
My 19's are with the Wheel Specialist in Swindon being baked as we speak.

Hoping to collect them tomorrow.

The winter weather and pot holes (and a stupid kerbing mistake when at Revo last week) left me with no choice but to go and get them sorted.

I have used Steve at the Wheel Specialist aswell...and i would like to say that they give a great service. Really friendly and top quality job! I can recomend them. In fact im back there this week getting some more wheels done!!

Cool. [B)]

Old thread revival :) I'd forgotten about this.

We'll I've finally got the roof booked in with Totally Dynamic for a week on Saturday - going for gloss black to match the wheels etc.

OK the roof is now done. Took it down to Totally Dynamic in Southampton on Sat. Really pleased with the results. They've agreed to do a discount for SEATCupra.net members so mention the forum and ask for Simon and he'll sort you out.

Anyway, gave the car a clean yesterday and sorted out some new pictures today. Very pleased with the gloss black vs the silver. I also got them to do the bottom lip of the front splitter in some film as well, although it doesn't show in the pics.

nothing to do with the cupra R coming out then ? :p

Yes :( But really can't afford one at the moment, and my car's really sorted now. Add to the fact that I'm cycling to work and back now - why pay more for a car on insurance / loan etc. to be sat in the garage when this one is paid off.

Still... I'm sure I'll be looking to see what the MK3 holds in store in Cupra/R form [B)]

Car goes in for its four year service (inc cambelt), two new tyres and MOT tomorrow and just renewed the tax. Rapidly approaching £1K's worth - ouch :(

Given it a wash today and it is still in top condition considering it's the longest I've held on to a SEAT now and has done around 35K miles.

It spends 50% of the week garaged up now between cycling to work, and the Altea is used to haul the family around at weekends.

The Cupra still puts a big grin on my face when I get behind the wheel and it's still rare around these parts. Even more so now the Cupra's are said to be discontinued.

Going to see what the MK3 brings, but considering the amount of money I'm about to drop on it to just keep it on the road, I still need to get more of my money's worth out of it. :)

Still would like the Cupra R diffuser and twin exhaust at some point once Milltek have it sorted.

Hi Scott, have read through your entire Readers Ride thread - the whole 2 years!! :D
(ok, even though it spans over just 3 pages).

Your Vinyl'ed roof and front splitter really set off the paintwork.
Car looks FANTASTIC, looks even more "class" !

I'm in a similar situation to you, my 4 year service comes up next...
With the Cambelt also in this service, as you indicate, its going to be an expensive one! :(

I have a Mk2 Leon FR in Black. Talking about the Vinyl, do you think a MATT Black roof and front bumper Lip will have enough 'contrast' against the shiny Black paintwork?

Would the Cupra R diffuser be the one fitted to the Mk1 Leon?
I've fitted one for a friend, to his Mk4 Ibiza! :) The more self tapping screws the better.
Start from the centre, so you know it's centred with the bottom of the bumper on the car - then work outwards, carefully aligning and bending the Splitter as you screw up into the bottom of the bumper. 30 minute job. :) Cheap to buy too.

Cheers.

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. :)

Not sure about the roof to be honest. Why not whack it up in the photoshop requests forum and someone can do a photoshop for you to see what you think.

I mean the rear diffuser on the MK2 Cupra R, not the front R splitter, although I could do that I guess. Trying not to spend too much more on it to be honest though as I probably won't have it for more than another year at a guess.

Cheers,

Scott

Well the car turns five at the end of the month and has just passed 40K. The longest I have ever held on to a car. Reasons for sticking? Apart from the Cupra R, (which didn't make financial sense) and flirting with the idea of downsizing to an ibiza Cupra. This is the most complete package I've owned and after a good clean and a quick blast it still puts a smile on my face. (I know, I've probably said this earlier in the thread, but it still holds true).

No new mods since previously having had the last lot done, although I will soon be getting one of the wheels totally re stripped, refurbed and resprayed after my lovely wife borrowed the car :(

We may have to move house in a year or two meaning I'd be much further from work (10 mins vs an hour) so might have to switch to something more economical.

Waiting desperately for the new Leon unveil, but really liking the facelifted ibiza. Will see what happens towards the end of the year and might put the car on the market at some point in 2012. :(

Some TLC today.

  • Gave it a clean
  • New wiper blades
  • New front grille after a local garage scratched it (not SEAT)
  • New side leds (finally some that don't error)
  • New rear number plate LEDs (non error too) :)
  • Minor door ding removed by DentMagic (amazing job - good as new)

Still loving the car after all this time.

Will probably now hang on to it as long as possible until the MK3... :)
